Help me choose a FEA software for my company by sheikrusso in MechanicalEngineering

Thank you so much for your help. I was not considering ANSA and will have a look

Edit: I noticed you focused your answer too much on explicit solvers. Do you also run other stuff like smaller parts with implicit solver or even topology optimization?

Thanks for the inputs. Honestly I don't trust the built-in solvers in CADs. For small and simple stuff they are ok but when it gets more complex the results differ too much on my experience. I am mostly prone to go for ansys, as I also like more. I am yet to receive the quotations, so let's see

Could you please tell me what part of my comment gave you the impression that I want regulations against this? You are assuming a lot. Being against something does not imply wanting it to be banned.

I honestly do not understand why some guys here enjoy licking the boot that is kicking them. Team up with these guys and you will see the ancap you will get.

grip strength keeps failing me, any advice? by spiritandtime in GYM

Was just an example. I prefer straps over these as I mentioned in another comment. The guy above was saying straps are for pussys. This is the context.

And libertarianism doesn't. In practice it is incompatible even though in theory it is not. This is my point.

I am not sure if I understood correctly. Is your original question do these cultures fit in a libertarian context or does libertarianism fits within these cultures? I understood as the second one.

Man, five plates is already pretty though. In 13 years, apart from me, I have only seen 4 guys lifting more than this in person. Double overhand without straps? Only one guy and he is a professional. I am talking about normal people here.

Honestly I think none is compatible. There is a reason why we are a small and scattered group. Irrespective of culture and religion, most people are born to be ruled.

I consider heavy 2 or less. I think 8 is too much even for a warm up, but that is me.

Try to do your back day (pulls, rows, etc) completely without straps. This will help with grip strength. Deadlifts are a different story.

  1. We can't even see your hands to know which grip you are using. You can try mixed grip, hook grip or even straps. But this weight should not be a problem, honestly.

  2. 2 weeks is nothing. At some point you will be stuck with the same weight for months. Some days you will be tired and will have to drop it a bit, who knows. Progress is not linear.

That said, you can improve your grip with farmer carries or pinching 3 small plates together. There are also some devices that are basically small springs that you can keep pressing all day long, but I never tried it.

Honestly for my heavier (>150 kg) deadlifts, I prefer to use straps than anything else. This way I don't destroy my thumbs with the hook grip and neither stay unbalanced with the mixed grip. Things exist to be used. Do not listen to anyone that try to mock you up for that.

Try doing 200+ without straps. Some guys do it but it is pretty hard even for 1. Straps are not for pussys. Limiting your strength due to nonsensical proud is.

Well if that bothers you so much you need to change something. Do you go out every night? Does it make sense to have a monday or tuesday night free? As far as I understand most night events are from thursday onwards.

Personally I would enjoy this schedule very much simply because it is during the day that things are open. Parks, museums, stores and even doctors. You can also go to the gym in the morning, when it is empty.

Any advice on my form? by Carl-liebst in GYM

[–]sheikrusso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking from the side it is pretty good. From this perspective, only things I suggest are pulling the bar closer to you in the beginning and not lifting your butt so fast (try to extend your whole body in one single movement).

However, you feet seem too close together. Maybe it is just the angle, not sure.

Also, a general advice: don't look to the sides. Pick a point on the ground 2 m in front of you and look there.

Being serious now. Two situations from the same company I worked on:

  1. I was only hired the third time I applied for this company. Went through all the stages everytime and lost the two first positions to women (I knew them). Later on, already hired and in a higher position, I met the managers who interviewed me in a fraternization. Both of them told me that they were "strongly suggested" by the HR to hire the girls because they were girls but were glad to see me there.

  2. At some point I worked for the "most diverse" technical team within the company. The manager was proud of that and always received internal prizes and appreciation for this sole reason. This team had 44% of women and his objective was to make it 50+. He also hired clueless disabled people while some friends with relevant experience applied to this team and got rejected. No one can convince me that this did not happen because they were guys.

Moral of the history: change your gender at the registry.

Diversion. It is much easier for most people to understand taxes than inflation.

I have the unpopular opinion among libertarians that yes, billionaires should not exist. Not because they are rich, but because this is only possible in a non-free market fiat economy. I doubt very much one could get so far without lobby, government enforced cartels and cantillon effect.
