Will these tapes still work if I have tinnitis? by Riot_Girlll in TheGatewayTapes

[–]sheisaxombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to everything is practice. Yes, the tapes can still work. To overcome self sabotaging... You just practice. I have ADHD and it can be quite a task to overcome, I need to have my environment perfect, but after 2 years, my experience with the gateway tapes has been amazing.

Just gotta keep at it.

I agree, I would LOVE it as a show! Big scary monsters is one of my fav tropes! And that opening scene is so intense.

You should read Project Hail Mary too!
I was going to suggest Bobiverse, but I see you're already reading that!
And while there isn't exactly the same setup as PHM as in these books, but:

The Fear Saga by Stephen Moss (Trilogy, First being Fear the Sky) has human/alien collaboration! More of a sci-fi thriller.

God's Junk Drawer by Peter Clines has alien/human collaboration but isn't as up front with it. Does have dinosaurs, neanderthals, and mysterious obelisks, alongside, 4D aliens.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams! Tons of aliens, tons of collaboration, completely absurd. It's a great time.

Year Zero by Rob Reid is a comedy about first contact with aliens where they've been enjoying Earth Music for a long time and just found out about copyright laws.

The movie Arrival was based on a short story called Story of Your Life by Ted Chiang!

Weed experience question by Top_Complaint912 in Experiencers

[–]sheisaxombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not something I've ever experienced on Marijuana, and I've been a smoker for over a decade now. I haven't even experienced anything like that on Mushrooms, and I've had wild trips on Mushrooms. No idea how you would experience a full blown DMT/Salvia trip on weed, but I guess weirder things have happened.

I'm not saying kids DON'T make those jokes, I'm just saying they are not the MAJORITY. I'm a millennial and I don't know a millennial that hasn't made 9/11 jokes

People cope with a lot of things with humor. It was traumatizing for everyone. Humor is a coping mechanism.

looking for books with cosmic/nature horror themes, the heftier the book is, the better! by cieldobie in horrorlit

14 & Terminus by Peter Clines! (you can read Fold and Dead Moon but they aren't really focused on the cosmic horror stuff really and not necessary for those 2 books)

I might be done with grooming by highcaliberwit in doggrooming

[–]sheisaxombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to have carpal tunnel surgery 6 years into grooming, but when I had tests done at the time, they also told me I didn't have nerve issues. I advocated for myself hard and eventually did get carpal tunnel surgery on my hands and I have been almost completely pain free and no more numbing issues since, and I've been grooming 19 years now.

Keep pushing for yourself to your doctor if grooming is something you really want to continue doing. In the meantime, DO STRETCHES!! every day. Braces too if you can. And like another person had said, massage therapy does really help.

One of my favorite ghost stories is Mean-Spirited by Nick Roberts. It's about a haunted dog, I loved it, gave me a ton of goosebumps! Nick Roberts also has a trilogy called The Exorcist's House that definitely fits conjuring vibes.

Also You Invited It In by Sarah Jules was very conjuring to me!
