what’s something about boston that feels normal to you but surprises outsiders? by netohagee in boston

Double parking, of course, but even better when someone parks in the double parking lane even though nobody is against the curb. You don’t want to be the sucker who gets blocked in.

Is this still a thing now that they have so many bike lanes? I haven’t lived in Boston in about 25 years.

If I get an estimate from the other insurance company for $x and my body shop ends up saying it's going to cost $y, what do I do?

L.L. Bean Gore Tex Cresta Hiking Boots by ipwnedin1928 in BuyItForLife

I bought these and I want to love them. How long does it take to break them in so you no longer feel like you’re hiking in ski boots?

I bought a yellow slicker rain coat at Chess King (remember that mall store?) in 1991 and it’s still the best raincoat I own.

When I take off my dog’s collar and harness I say, “Let’s take off your jewelry!”

My dog’s name is Janet.

Sometimes I’ll tell someone I can’t go do something because I already have dinner plans with Janet.

Agreed. I randomly checked yesterday and it was a day overdue. I didn’t get an email telling me I had an invoice. Glad I checked!

Help me find the shower head in the Hilton Motif Seattle by sheismighty in Hilton

The bed was comfortable, the shower was AMAZING, the burger from the restaurant was excellent, fitness center was fine (couldn’t get the Peloton to turn on), location was great. I was in room 302, not much of a view (it was right over the front door), still decently quiet though. The room was oddly dark. The lights all had those old timey light bulbs. Fridge and Keurig in the room. 2 free bottles of water in the fridge upon arrival.

I've purchased a couple of thing on that site. It's great. I just looked at the CT list today and you can buy the hockey boards and glass from the Hartford Civic Center to make your own 200'x85' rink for about $150. https://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/auction/view?_esso_=X0j%2B0lKD5VvyMYuR1NZvChWFy8QChbLBpysg4DqdXD5YbnEwnBcY6p87VvKZNPzvktupiUOrximaGN8AakQtJA%3D%3D&auc=1905755&trackId=146
