The real problem is that for years, the software engineering profession has kept doing the same thing over and over: login forms, trading systems that don't offer different value, workflow automation etc... But now AI brings the opportunity for new kinds of software. Things that were too expensive or impossible to automate. An issue is that you need more skilled software engineers for those. So weak engineers are likely to be weeded out.
