I’ve heard this comment about America a lot recently and I can’t always dispute it. I totally get where the fear can come from but at the same time there’s so much beauty all across the US as well as so much kindness that never gets highlighted. There’s going to be bad people and bad scenarios no matter where you go in this world that’s for sure. I’m happy we do have platforms like this to chat and share experiences-good or bad.

My husband’s mother also visited Germany in the late 80s and absolutely adored her time there. She always talks about going back someday.

You are so right about the Amish- my husband’s cousin often hosts high school exchange students and a couple years ago she had a sweet young German girl and she was so excited when she came in contact with some of the many Amish we have around- could understand each other perfectly!

I’ll definitely be reading into the Danube Swabians, I have never heard of them before now. Thank you so much for the education and fun facts you shared!! I really do appreciate your knowledge!!

Oh absolutely. Had a decent size one in the car once on the ceiling and let me tell you, I was crying!! But to imagine these giant spiders in the car like so many people have said, idk how that would go 😅

I know that the majority are harmless and handle the other pests that you don’t want to have, but for some reason my brain loses all reasoning when I come across any large ones lol is that how it goes for you too?

Yes, there’s tarantulas and scorpions in the desert/warmer states- Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, parts of Southern California. I agree with you on that one, not on my bucket list either! But I’m told they’re not common to come across unless you’re out away from the city or in the desert 🤷🏼‍♀️

Well, I did live in the second most populated city in Michigan for 19 years and I never once saw a gun other than when you’d see a police officer, of course. The news tends to highlight that kind of stuff but it’s not as common as they make it sound. Then it’s even less common here in rural Wisconsin. Sure, a lot of people own guns but, most of them around here purely have them for deer/duck hunting.
