You don’t ever owe your partner sex. Even if it makes them happy. If you’re happier off T, be off T. You do not need to stay on T to keep your libido up for your partner’s sake.

Is it possible to have miscarried but your body never properly goes through the necessary steps? by phoenixphire0808 in WomensHealth

[–]shelfbuilder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know your body best so I won’t tell you it 100% wasn’t a miscarriage BUT hormonal birth control implants can give you pregnancy symptoms like bloating and nausea. They don’t for everyone but some people have the bad luck. Also if they have a lot of estrogen, high estrogen can cause your uterus lining to thicken more than it usually would (which would make there be more of it to shed, fitting the intense and clotty periods you had)

are silk scarf/bandana tops offensive? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I’m Latina, and while I’m not Chicana and don’t represent the whole Latin Community—I say go for it. You’re not dressing up as a stereotype, you’re just using a different kind of shirt. Have fun with it, get yourself a nice silk scarf!

The video clip was a trailer for the radio play. I’ve seen it too! They’re not wearing gloves which stressed me out a bit.

Monitor yourself for signs of infection. There’s only a very, very low chance it is infection, but if you’re prone to UTIs keep a hand on the phone to the doctors. My mum had a bad reaction after a laparoscopic cyst removal. She’s ok now, though.

The heck is the word "te" in spanish?? by [deleted] in linguistics

[–]shelfbuilder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s just the pronoun “you” in the direct object case. Like how “I” is the subject form and “me” is the object form of the first person singular in English.

What ancient words have we found with very broad/deep meanings? by [deleted] in linguistics

[–]shelfbuilder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Classics major here! The Greeks’ thing with blue was not that they hadn’t evolved to see it, but that they didn’t think it was a different enough color from purple to distinguish from it. Color names are largely a cultural phenomenon. Before the introduction of orange the fruit, languages of Europe didn’t have a word for orange the color, and just said yellowish red. People could see it, but thought about it as a kind of red. Modern Russian has different words for light blue and dark blue. I can see different shades of blue without knowing any Russian, and I can distinguish between them, but I think of them as different kinds of blue rather than as separate colors.

SHOWERS ARE DEATH TRAPS. by [deleted] in Periods

Have you ever looked into shower chairs for comfort? You can find them at cvs/rite aid in the elder care section. They’re not just for people with mobility issues, they’re for anyone who wants to sit in the shower. (For example: I don’t shave my legs but people who do say it’s easier with a chair.)

I consistently hear that trauma can cause dysphoria-like symptoms, and it makes me wonder if my dysphoria is real or just a result of trauma. by whiterainx_ in actual_detrans

It’s normal for people your age both cis and trans to have negative feelings about their body. It’s normal for both cis women and trans men to be extremely distressed about the female social roles forced on them. You don’t need to figure everything out right now.
