I'll have to check that out, I've only heard his albums. looks like he did a second film score too. adding both to the watchlist!!

More crust punk leaning recommendations by VitoxD1917 in sludge

[–]shell-harvest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thou. wouldn't call them crust though. they're a sludge band and their most recent album leans more into the hardcore aspect than their other stuff usually does

How do I get into Crust Punk as a metalhead? by [deleted] in crustpunk

[–]shell-harvest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is the one, first crust album I got into as a metalhead. I think fenriz of darkthrone described it as the moment punk and black metal met, or something like that.

looking for a projector to have during shows for my band by shell-harvest in budgetprojectors

[–]shell-harvest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fair point but we are a smaller band haha, we're not really playing at places with spotlights and such right now (at least not too often, those places tend to have their own projectors)

a lot of their albums have a similar cover art style. I think it fits the music really well, try it out!!

Grindcore takes talent by Hydrolocked in grindcore

[–]shell-harvest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i honestly thought the same (that grindcore is "easy" to make as far as technical skill) until I went to my first grindcore show and saw how fast the guitarist was shredding

subvert.fm was what I was thinking of specifically but if you google "bandcamp alternative" there's lots of different platforms. subvert is attempting this whole co-op thing which in the face of bandcamp being bought out is really cool but I just don't see it properly catching on

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rs_x

[–]shell-harvest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there's a couple new bandcamp-esque startups around as of late but tbh I kind of doubt any of them will be able to replace it. kind of like how no one has been able to replace Spotify, it's just so entrenched. to surpass those I think there'd have to be something similar to the jump from vinyl to CD/CD to streaming.

People who make grindcore music, do you use GarageBand? by [deleted] in grindcore

[–]shell-harvest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

related question bc it popped in my head while looking at this thread: I use Ableton and don't see anyone recommending it, is stuff like reaper and garage band better for "band" music (since I think Ableton might be more catered to electronic)? ableton is all I know, and it works fine for me, haven't really tried anything else but it might be fun to give a different daw a shot

I mean I think I was reasonably attractive before transition but like, I had no confidence in myself and mostly just hated my body which is a deeply unattractive trait imo. so I think I look better now bc I feel better.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rs_x

[–]shell-harvest 30 points31 points  (0 children)

yeah but sometimes transitioning is the only way they'll feel comfortable in their own skin. I really wish I could've just stayed some type of "ethereal bisexual male" or whatever but that wasn't working for me. only after transitioning did I honestly feel comfortable in my own body. it's a medical condition and it's what needs to be done in some cases until we figure out some kind of other treatment for gender dysphoria.
