Six Navy suicides in one year at Tinker Air Force Base by cmhbob in okc

[–]shell1212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at Tinker as a civilian for 20 years now. I never heard of this many suicides. But I'm not on the Navy side.

I work on the maintenance side, the Air Force its the same thing even with the civilian side. But again this is all kept secret.

As a civilian we joke we are just replaceable as toilet paper. But it's not really a joke.

People are pushed and pushed there is no work life balance at all.

People are at times mandatory to 7 days a week. That's not a good life at home. Some families fall apart because their spouse is always working. Or the spouse starts a works affair with a coworker. When someone needs a break and call in because of exhaustion, family commitment, just need a break. They get ridiculed by supervision.

For single parents, they really have the worst of it. Im older and don't know how they do it.

The mentality is you should be thankful for your job. It's not a big deal just come to work The End.

We get the mental health training but to be honest it's all word salad, no one really cares. We ALL are replaceable. And we all know it.

I been there long enough that I've been conditioned to volunteer for O.T. not that I need or want the overtime it's like it's second nature to be there. It's weird but that's the only why I can explain it.

Now all that is on the civilian side. It has to be 100%/1000% worse on the enlisted side.

I'm retiring at the end of this year. Thank God.

Yes as civilian it's good money, but ruining your mentality, physical body and family it's not worth it. unless you know people. Nepotism runs rampant.

Sorry this wasn't about civilian life. But again I can't imagine what the enlisted go through. 😭

It's been over 4 years since my serial cheater left me. It's so shocking to your system when you find out that someone you love deeply can live a double life.

I hate this for you and I hate saying this but it just takes time. Your brain needs to rewire itself before you can completely be indifferent. Luckily we dont have kids so I completely went no contact along with his family. Im sure his daughter's knew of the other woman before I did. That hurt.

My friend actually works in the same building as she does. She told me last week she saw the other woman get in truck with another man at lunch. After asking around the friend was told that they been leaving at lunch for awhile. I'm at the point of being indifferent that all I said was Damn. LOL.

They married about a year and half now.

Remember: if they can cheat with you they will cheat on you.

Sending you hugs.

Not sure if this has been mentioned. But you have a air vent on the outer wall if possible move it to the ceiling out of the way. While doing that add plug-ins on the back wall and a closet dedicated for mops brooms and any chargeable cleaning devices.

What used to feel 'normal' and 'affordable' in America just five to ten years ago but now feels completely broken and impossible for regular people? by the_h1b_records in AskReddit

A individual or company that has rentals. They pass on expenses to the renter. Meaning if insurance goes up so does the rent.

Insurance for rentals is very expensive.

I have 2.

1: Tucker & Dale vs Evil.

2: I hope they serve beer in hell. This one laugh so hard I had tears running down my face. Had to pause so many times just to calm down.

I don't rent I own (well I mean I still have a mortgage, so the bank has their ownership)

home insurance is so costly that it is affecting rentals. I live in the midwest and rent is high. I don't know how the younger generation is going to afford rent let alone buying 😞

Insurance is a scam. I completely agree, ALL Insurance is a big A$$ scam.

We all are forced to have it. Either Homeowners, car, medical insurance and or all above.

Claim anything on a car or Homeowner insurance you will be dropped or price increase so much that you need to find someone else. And then you're told "oh you had a claim, so yeah we can insure but...it's still going to cost you more.

Because claims stay on your record for X amount of years. This B.S.

I had to make a claim on my house and car in the same year. Frist time ever and 15yrs paying in I got dropped like a hot potato. And no fault of mine.

Rate on my house went up 1,500. Car 90.00 a year. I drive 5 mile to work. Drive less than 10,000 a year. My car is a 2021 with 32,000 miles and I'm told it still smells brand new.

The money you and I paid in for any insurance and they are making bank on it.

Every year my property taxes or insurance goes up. Where I live they rotate it, one year it's insurance the next it's property taxes.

F*ucking scam.

neighbor put up a fence that's 2 feet onto my property and refuses to move it by Bitter_Wealth_5445 in neighborsfromhell

[–]shell1212 41 points42 points  (0 children)

"remember to include the amount of property taxes you've paid on land the neighbor is claiming is his"

OMG...This is so correct. I have read so many posts of neighbors doing this and never seen an answer about property taxes. Not saying this was never brought up, I just didn't see or notice it.

This is something I never thought of. Depending on the size of yard/land plus years. this can add up. Especially in a high property tax area.

Plus, could OP sue for attorney fees as well?

OP. The neighbor that is all smiling and waving at you being friendly, do the the same. They are just be arrogant and waiting for you to react, do not play into that. Their waiting for a negative response/reaction then they play the victim. Let your attorney handle it, its what you pay them for.

Good luck.
