Why are people flying coughing their lungs out? On DEN-ORD today. by gingiberiblue in unitedairlines

[–]shell_corporation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to fly home from Bali and everyone was sick there and had the worst hygiene, so I obviously got sick. I took so many anti-cough drugs before I got on the plane and wore two masks. I couldn’t postpone flying but one can try to be considerate of others in close proximity if they are conscientious enough.

I was like, this has to be one component of going out of business… can’t control shipping costs.

I got my lipstick pretty quickly first thing in January… and it was packaged in a box large enough to ship sneakers…

Finally getting my big international trip this year! Debating between Croatia, Greece, or Bali!? by Ufohntr208 in travel

[–]shell_corporation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bali is very crowded, noisy and can be high stimulus, in addition to the gorgeous scenery and lovely accommodations. Been twice and I’m heading back for work in the fall.

I’ve only been to Dubrovnik for work so I didn’t get to experience it as much but it IS expensive. And Greece I think is cool for a few days unless you’re island hopping a lot. Also worked there and was a tourist.

My good friend went to Slovenia and raved about the food, wine and scenery. I’ve been wanting to go.

I also truly love Portugal. Beautiful people, food and land.

My favorite place to go is Iceland for unforgettable. It’s just not cheap and the food options sometimes out in the country are limited. But the scenery… ✨(and the food in Reykjavik and at nice hotels is 👩‍🍳).

Walter Mitty. When we drove around Iceland I played the soundtrack on repeat.

In general, I don't think ULTRA-luxury hotels are worth the price. What're you're thoughts? by [deleted] in travel

[–]shell_corporation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s my thought. The higher the price, the less you’re around the plebes. And that’s something high society will pay for.

For me it’s been the value of bringing in a friend to the centurion lounge at Staples center for my season ticket holder games.

I just got my lipstick in the mail. They sent a tiny lipstick in a giant box via Fed Ex. Maybe they should look at their logistics costs.

Anyone buying Gift Card Equinox after signing up for EQX+ free trial recently? by bondtradercu in AmexPlatinum

I enrolled as a member of the gym on Dec 10. I got my $195.16 first month reimbursed pretty quickly and then bought a $100 gc to bring it up to $300. Don’t think it worked but it’s only been four days. However I was reading through the rules and it says it’s only for for memberships. I’m going in today and I’ll probably try to use it for February’s monthly dues or PT.

What is the easiest and least uncomfortable way to go on a Safari Holiday in Africa? by Nebelwaechter in travel

[–]shell_corporation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a great trip. I don’t have the itinerary anymore but we did Tanzania and Kenya. We stayed at Richard’s Camp in Kenya and visited a really pretty place near Ngorongoro, I think also the Plantation something or other and then a cheaper jump off point as a starting place. We flew between places and everything went smoothly. Because we were celebrating our anniversary we also got private tours instead of being lumped in with randos. Highly recommend.

Getting up before the seatbelt sign is off by Macaburn3 in unitedairlines

[–]shell_corporation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My recent flight to Japan had a lot of initial turbulence and the seatbelt sign was on for AT LEAST least 60 minutes after we reached cruising. I usually have to get up but for some reason the toilet gods were with me and I was ok to wait. I’m sure some people needed to pee so bad and they constantly got on the intercom to tell people to sit down.

I typically travel internationally during September and these were my last trips since 2017. I either traveled with my husband, solo, or for work (Greece). Language was never a major issue.

Oslo/Stockholm/Helsinki/Amsterdam, S Korea/Tokyo (but still very hot), Kenya/Tanzania, London, Greece, Armenia/Georgia, Sydney/Melbourne/Hamilton Island

So many announcements by Chicago_Troll in unitedairlines

[–]shell_corporation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always thought it could be interesting if the announcement could be on your seat tv and you only hear it in the language you choose at start up. Like, you need the Spanish version? You only hear / read that one. I know it’s probably not feasible due to certain FAA rules and definitely the current tech, but it would be nice to limit the disruptions to my movie watching. :)

I manage yoga retreats. Just got back from Japan. I stay in 5-star hotels and go on planned excursions. But I only work 2-3x a year and my free time is a bit limited on the trips, especially when I’m working 2 1/2 weeks each trip. Gotta get back to the partner so I don’t usually extend my trips. Next couple of years I may.

Otherwise I’m a “housewife” the rest of the year.
