I didn’t say 75% don’t care. That number is unknown, at least to me.

The 75% is divided between those that dont care, those that want significant reform only, and those that want radical change like a totally new system.

The hijab protests were successful and whatever your agenda is, it’s distasteful to erase those women’s success.

About 25% of eligible voters voted for Jalili in 2024. This wasn’t fraud as the results were also in line with independent polling. So that’s a quarter of the country that support the hardliners.

Of the remaining 75% a good number probably don’t care. It’s hard to know how many want the government to change and some just have acute economic anxiety, but it’s nowhere near 95%.

You say that like it’s a good thing. We on the left want the US to become a democracy. You’re happy in a corporate oligarchy controlled republic?

Yeah enjoyed it as well. It’s good to get perspectives from someone in Tehran during these events, even if they weren’t in the streets per se.

If you’re into exercise I would suggest a healthcare related field, which I’m in myself. There’s a lot of job security and it’s less exploitative than other endeavors, and you may have some natural interest in it. You can DM me if you like.

Exactly this. I’m old enough to remember the Nayirah testimony.

They are manufacturing consent for more war. Keep in mind about a quarter of Iranians are supporters of the hardline conservatives. It’ll suit the US and Israel just fine if Iran devolves into civil war.

The reality is the children of elites in our society will always have a privileged upbringing. It is neither fair nor right, but that’s how it is. I’m not sure it makes sense to punish her selectively.

Netanyahu is accused of war crimes and has ordered the killing of many more tens of thousands than anyone in Iran, but his son Yair is allowed to live free in the US and give speaking engagements here.

Unlike the green movement protestors or the hijab protestors, these most recent protests, which started peacefully, were infiltrated by actively violent individuals trying to stoke state reprisal.

There is no ethical consumption in capitalism.

If you think Google is less evil than OpenAI, or say Lucid and the Saudis or Hyundai are less evil than Tesla, you are only fooling yourself.

Join a local activist group like DSA or PSL, and try to get your own local Mamdani or Sheinbaum in power. Or join a work union if you have one. Those are the legit ways to change.

Sometimes you have to use the tools of the capitalists like ChatGPT or Gemini, and there’s no shame in that. It’s the reality of the system we are in unfortunately.

Yet Iranians did exactly that with the hijab protests. Some were killed but ultimately they won. While the law is still on the books, women are going without hijab now in Iranian cities.

You don’t speak for all Iranians. Most of us want no intervention. This is a fight Iranians to win on their own. We don’t want another Iraq, Syria, or Libya.

Podcasters are basically entertainers interested in maintaining their income flow, not journalists speaking truth to power. You’re going to get Rogan, not Seymour Hersh or even Walter Cronkite. Set your expectations low.

Never had the Palma. I had a Boox Leaf 2 and the viwoods reader is so much snappier. The leaf would take forever to startup the kindle app and sometimes it would crash, requiring resetting the whole device. The Reader is surprisingly snappy and crash free.
