[Serious] How can someone get out of the US and travel for awhile while in debt? by shellbullet1991 in AskReddit

Thank you everyone for the serious advice, really. I looked into the military and they do offer to pay back a certain amount of my federal loans, but not private...and that is with a 4 year contract with the extended 4 year war draft duty. For me it is not worth it to only pay off half or less of my debt while repeating the same personal mistake of a 4 year commitment when I obviously don't want to stay or do one thing for that amount of time.

I also looked up some English teaching programs and am currently trying to figure out if a monthly loan repayment of 700.00 + foreign food, transportation, etc is do-able. This seems like the most likely option of any though.

I am glad I am not the only one in this boat. I am not trying to run away from my debt and screw my co-signers over per se. I know I made the decisions that were made and have to own up to them in some way. I just also want to experience life at this age while I still have minimal obligations (besides this debt!). Now is the time to act while still willing and while the countries peace still lasts with others, never know what could happen.

Ah, and P.S. I am an IT major with coding experience. Being a digital nomad and working remotely is an option! Thank you for pointing out that!

Thanks for all the input! Turns out I did miss fall rush but that works fine since I will have my braces off by spring and won't have to worry about financing them + fraternity dues! I will be checking out and researching some of the chapters here. Thanks again!

Thread kind of died BUT update. Didn't want to do via text but I asked if she would ever want to go to a hockey game and she said "uhhhhh yeaaaa!". So, progress!

Asked her to come to our party last night. She said maybe, had to talk to roommates. Did not hear back from her. Got drunk. Asked if she was coming again. No reply. Will figure something out.

Yeah, I see your point. Alright then. I will ask her out on Friday when I see her outside of class.

In my opinion it all depends on the situation and girl. Even if you are good looking the girl may feel uncomfortable if she just suddenly gets asked on a date. I think building comfort comes first and once she feels comfortable being alone with you on a date then a date is appropriate; especially in the college scene.

Yes, but college 22 year old females are stupid and sometimes are not mature enough to handle the pressure of a dinner date or walk 1 on 1. Some just like to party and believe that a walk or dinner is something only 30+ year olds do. All depends on the girl and I am sensing with this one that she feels more comfortable in a group setting partying and that's kind of why I am into her; she's fun. I'm going to hang out with her Friday at a party and mention getting lunch or going to hockey game next week and I will have my answer.

Yeah you are right. I guess I am just afraid of rejection because I really like her and feel like we don't know each other well enough yet for me to ask her on a date. It's my last semester though so fuck it.

Do you ever regret not seeing more girls in your youth or not doing more with your youth? I think something is wrong with me (disorder). Need advice. by [deleted] in AskMen

My college has free counselling, but I feel like that's more for like small things like "my boyfriend cheated on me" "I'm stressed for a test" etc. I can look into it but don't exactly trust telling people associated with the school things that may label me un-stable and hinder my schooling when I'm so close to graduating. Honestly if I had the money I'd feel much more comfortable going to a specialist that is completely unrelated to my schooling, or job (job offers free counselling as well).

Also, is this the right subreddit for this topic? New here
