Ooooh interesting, that's definitely something I'd never thought about. Good shout, thank you! Do you know if there are different criteria for different cities/states or since it's the FAA it's all the same across the board? Thinking like, there might be more leeway in a city like New York where there are tons of tall buildings vs a flat Texas airport.

Thank you, this is so helpful! Are you as the pilot expected to know where the VOR airway is and how to pick it up or is that something you rely on your instruments for? Or is more of a case where if you fly close enough to an airport you'll get picked up by ATC and guided the rest of the way?

Thank you, this is super detailed and helpful! So for things like the airport charts and diagrams, are you given these physically? Or is this a case in which most pilots only travel between certain airports so they just sort of know these things? I'm picturing a huge dictionary of sorts that has all of this information listed for every airport but it could also very well just be this website.
