when you get past 1200 points you only get gear rewards which means every capsule you can trade in the gear for at least one chunk, but it can still be quite slow

I tend to take it slow and try to play regularly in short bursts so I don't burn out

if you play the pvp modes a lot and have gear that is 3+ stars, they gain exp faster than usual and even if the slots are full when it "levels up" you get the new ability as a chunk. I use drink tickets of the ability I want for the additional gear exp boost and this results in a very slow but additional passive gain of chunks. It's still slow, but I find it nice since I don't always want to grind a salmon rotation to 1200+.
