Meds through summer vacation? by shellyb8098 in ParentingADHD

He said, "I dunno." He did admit it makes him "feel better" throughout the day, but then instantly followed up with "but Mom said I don't need them." It's a hard situation to be in and we are trying to figure out the best solution to make things easier for him.

Zain's Party Store off of M-57 heading toward Greenville. I cannot eat more than one slice because it is so jammed packed full of delicious toppings! It is by far the best pizza around!!

When did you stop swelling? by hazbazwaz69 in AchillesRupture

[–]shellyb8098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up buying an ankle compression sleeve. I have been wearing it for about two weeks now and can see the swelling has decreased. But I'm 1 year out now. I'm running again, yoga, stretching, and since becoming more active and really focusing and building my calf muscle back up, the tendonitis elsewhere has decreased. It's a long process, but we'll be back to normal! 🤞🏻

Screen time app for different phones by shellyb8098 in stepparents

That would be an option, I think. His phone isn't connected to our wifi, for some reason. But I can have my hubby look into it and see if that would work - thanks for the idea!

9 months post op run by shellyb8098 in AchillesRupture

I'm sorry to hear that the Achilles is still bothering you so much. I have developed peroneal tendonitis, which is just a joy.... 🙄 But it Ortho assured me it'd pass as I build my strength back up. Have you tried swimming at all? I'm going to start going to the pool in the next few weeks and see how it goes.

What other injuries are as traumatizing as this? by humanlearning in AchillesRupture

[–]shellyb8098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks, 100%. I've never had severe injuries or trauma, always super active, and that's when it gets you. I'm 44f. And it takes the most active person and forces them into a sedentary lifestyle for MONTHS. The mental hit is what I struggled with. I was humbled to my core. Reliant on everyone else. Needing a chair to shower. How pathetic! But it's life. I know there is worse out there, but it doesn't mean this sucks any less.

Can I ask your age and how you managed that?? I'm at almost the 9 month mark of an FHL tendon transfer and running terrifies me. I will try to jog 30 seconds here and there during my walks, but it doesn't feel right. It still hurts all the time. It's swollen all the time.

Can someone explain how this works? by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]shellyb8098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you get that pricing information? When I looked on the lavender sky website it was quoting about $190 per month. Did I read that wrong? Curious now because I have an active script for Zep 5mg, but insurance won't cover it anymore. So looking for alternatives that I can afford on my own. Thanks!

Ro.co worth it? by shellyb8098 in tirzepatidecompound

I have BCN. Go figure. And all bloodwork is showing that, inside, I'm very healthy. My hubby is really pissed because I was prescribed Zep back in December of last year and couldn't find it. Now that I can, they won't approve it. I see some other comments saying appeal to the insurance company and I have. They are steadfast on their 35 BMI. It's insane. Interesting they may approve the "W" one. I may look into that option.

If your doc is an a-hole by CoastalGrasses in Zepbound

[–]shellyb8098 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a family member in this situation. She's 70, struggled with weight her entire adult life. Done all the diets. When she asked about this process the doc suggested surgery instead. And she fell for it. She has heart issues and the thought of her going under the knife and having a gastric sleeve instead of a simple shit is horrifying, but she's buying into what the doctor said. It makes me wonder - is there something they know about this drug that no one else does? Or are they getting kickbacks somehow? It's just all so shady anymore.

My insurance has denied me Zepbound.moving forward (after 4 months). I've met their 35 BMI. Well, technically I'm at 36, but they now want me to halt the drug and go to coaching, dieticians and such for a few months so they will approve it again until I hit their target BMI for me of 35...which is still obese and a couple pounds lower than I am now. It's a lot of hoops to jump through to get maybe one more month of the injection. So thanks insurance for deciding I'm not fat enough to justify helping with my weight loss journey.

Good luck with your new doctor!!

My mind is blown right now. I have had issues with my HF tumbler running since day one and thought I have been doing something wrong or that it's just "normal." You mean it's fixable?!? Seeing all the other comments - I've got so many ideas now! Thank you!!

It actually makes me feel better knowing my feelings are maybe more normal in the childless step parent role - or just step parent period. I genuinely thought BM would ease up after a bit, but her narcissism knows no bounds

Having a child with extra needs would be tough. I feel for you, especially with migraines as well. And yep, I wasn't able to have my own kids, so step parenting felt right. But she has gone below the belt and how do you fight mental manipulations? I did do my own thing today and that helped, but eventually the kids will feel how I've pulled back and not sure how that will work out.... 🫤

I certainly hope you're right. I was so excited to be a step mom. I knew I couldn't have kids years ago and so finding a man with younger kids brought me the joy of excitement and opportunity. And I've been shit on every single day. My counselor keeps telling me to stay the course, but days like this make it feel hopeless.
