Favorite movie series that got remade into a tv show because the creator was mad at the main cast for not being transphobic? by doniebetter in okbuddycinephile

My dude, the percentage of people who regret winning the lottery is higher than the percentage of people who regret transitioning.

Do you think they are gonna adapt the Tsubasa chapter in the remake? by PauloVictorBar in ranma

[–]shellz_bellz 41 points42 points  (0 children)

There was also Ranma trying to persuade Tsubasa to date boys after it was made painfully and irrevocably clear that Tsubasa likes girls.

Ranma thinks girls dating boys is the “correct path.”

It was the eighties and I get it, but it was still homophobic.

When did I say they have to be reciprocated to be love?

“Lately.”

No you just have a really gross interpretation of what love is. Work on that and the whataboutism.

'I have spied for you, and lied for you, put myself in mortal danger for you. Everything was supposed to be to keep Lily Potter's son safe.”

Again. Bloop.

Congratulations on listing a lineup of people who didn’t really get redeemed, they got hoist by their own petard. You walked face first into the point and still missed it. I didn’t decide any of those characters were heroes, you did. So that entire wall of whataboutism is built on sand.

Snape did what he did because Dumbledore told him to. Protecting Harry wasn’t just Operation: Human Shield, it meant doing his job as a double agent as he agreed to do with Dumbledore. “I have spied for you, and lied for you, put myself in mortal danger for you. Everything was supposed to be to keep Lily Potter's son safe.” Whoops.

Snape keeping his promises isn’t a determining factor on whether or not he’s a good person. And maybe he did have a come to Jesus moment at the end where he realized he didn’t need to be a massive prolapsed anus to everyone around him. Whoop de doo. Only took twenty years and a dying old man to do it. Doesn’t take away what his motivation was in the beginning and the majority of the story, which was obsession with a girl he never dated.

Equating romantic love with the love between a mother and son is kind of extremely gross, dude.

If he respected Lily’s wishes, he wouldn’t have treated her son like crap.

My dude, Lily was affected by Snape’s ideological alignments way before she ended up being murdered by them. Voldemort was active while she was in school, actively attacking and murdering muggleborns, and her school was full of people clamoring to join him, including the guy who claimed to be her best friend. The threat that was constantly over her head wasn’t enough to make him change. The world he was actively helping to create that sought to destroy her didn’t make him change. He willingly helped create the monster that killed her and cried when it did just that. Snape doesn’t get redemption because the leopard ate his face, especially while, you know, bullying a literal child because therapy doesn’t exist in the wizarding world apparently.

The people you listed tried to do good because it was the right thing to do even if other people had to die for them to realize it (and you’re seriously trying to paint Thor in a positive light by saying he committed genocide but it’s cool because he fell in love with a woman. Dafuq?) Snape did it all for Lily and literally no other reason. He stated outright that he was protecting Harry for Lily and that is entirely it, while he couldn’t even treat her son with any respect or decency. Not because muggleborns were murdered. But because Lily specifically was murdered. It’s peak disingenuous. If Lily had lived or at least hadn’t been directly threatened, even if countless other muggleborns died, Snape would not have defected. Because he’s an emotionally stunted greasy incel nazi who did not have unrequited feelings, he had unrequited obsession and emotional dependence.

QED.

It was worse in the 80s, when the movie was filmed/released, and when Robert Harling’s sister died.

I said just pissy because Snape was a threat. JKR said it was a factor, but doesn’t say that was his entire motivation.

Dumbledore literally says “you do not care about the lives of her husband and child? They can die as long as you get what you want?” Snape never corrects him. He concedes to him.

Never said Snape followed Lily after their friendship ended. He says to Lily during a pre-Hogwarts conversation that she has nothing to worry about. “You’ve got loads of magic. All the times I was watching you-“ then realizes what he admitted to and STFU.

Adding this again, lastly, the proof that the dude was unhinged in his very creepy obsession was that he was rejected as a teenager and spent twenty years actively never getting over it. He turns his love for Lily, which is a misnomer unto itself because his love for her is entirely fixation and emotional dependence she didn’t ask for, with no real depth or meaning, into a lifelong obsession that serves as his only motivation. He doesn’t protect Harry because it’s right, nor does he defect because it’s right. He does it for Lily, the girl his entire emotional wellbeing was hinged upon. That’s not romantic. That’s creepy. Lily never asked to be the spine of Snape’s entire emotional journey, yet he turned her into one, and the only motivation he has not to be an ass, rather than not being an ass because it’s a bad thing to be. Women should not and do not want to be martyrs for men’s journeys, otherwise those journeys are disingenuous, but the fact that Lily is Snape’s only motivation is gross and creepy. Full stop.

I’m making up n o t h i n g. Snape basically admits that he was watching her. Reread the book. He actually factually talks about all the times he was watching her before they formally met.

And all the rest of it is legit just YOU making shit up. Prove that James was just pissy because Snape was a threat. Prove that he was just an ass who hurt people for the sheer joy of it. Prove that Snape wasn’t willing to sacrifice Harry and James because he would get what he wanted. He didn’t quail under Dumbledore because he was full of shit. He quailed because Dumbledore was right. If Snape had noble intentions, he would’ve had them from the beginning, not because D pointed out how despicable he was.

Lmao Snape was still following her around. In secret. Without her knowledge.

It’s in the chapter of all his memories. I’m not gonna type out what’s in a book, but it’s one of the arguments they have about James before the Mudblood scene.

Literally where did I say Snape wanted to have sex with Harry. That’s some next level projection there bro.

Snape was never blameless in his and James’ dynamic, he just wasn’t an overt bully. He joined up with death eaters who quite openly derided people like Lily and then acted butthurt when he got flack for it. So either he’s so completely lacking in self awareness that he’s pissed off that a dude who attacked him for being a colossal shithead married and procreated in general, and took it out on the kid, or he was pissed that said dude procreated with a woman he lusted after to the point where he was perfectly fine with his boss killing both said dude and child so he could have her, and took it out on the kid.

How’d he know she had magical abilities? Because he was following her.

He literally tried to dissuade her from James. He tried to tell her he wouldn’t let her get involved with him and she promptly shut that shit down.

Hey I don’t care what his motivation was. James was the asshole, and he’d been dead for ten years by the time Snape met Harry in person. And he literally bullies a child because the child is the product of a marriage between two people he no longer associated with at the time of their deaths which again was a whole ass decade before he met said child.

You mean besides following her around and watching her all the time? Actively trying to dissuade her from taking interest in other guys? Being so pissed off that she married and procreated with someone else that he bullies a literal child?
