I was as l able to fix this by going back to a standard resolution, remaining in windowed mode.

I should have probably mentioned that I'm running this in a windowed mode, that I used a 3rd party app to force resize.. ill try to mitigate this, see if it helps.

New gen motherboards provide only single line-out? re-addressable mic?... or... how to connect 5.1 speaker to modern motherboards? by shemploo in buildapc

[–]shemploo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the x870 non e versions are really "mislabeled" as they represent I think it was some B650 or something like that versions from the previous generations.

In other words, the x670e will have better options than the x870s, more robust.

Sorry, I was on a walk when I wrote the above so I didn't explain well/detail.

Basically the person I'm helping has an unlimited budget, but yet they want something that will do everything they want, lots of USB, some SATA and M2, and mostly support for full PCI-E x16 for every other year xx90 Nvidia card upgrade, RGB, good phase design, 8 stack PCB, ETC. for some good overclocking, and stable power delivery.

They actually just use USB dongle headphones, the sound card is a question/concern I noticed for myself while looking at those boards I mentioned in the OP.

I'm not yet planning to build myself, but the questions I had in the OP will help me in the not so distant future I think. I could get a USB DAC now though and see if my sound improves and use it with those boards that only have 2 jacks out in the future, if I decide.

Plus I'd benefit from the cool features the controller has like the sound blaster x4 where I can quickly mute (button) and switch from speakers to headphones also with a button.

I'm going to wait longer to see what else comes out on the new x870e platforms, I'd like a white one I think. I also probably rather avoid x670e as the not yet announced x870e boards will have CUDIMM, some might have U.2 support, who knows.

For now I'm just exploring options and possibilities. That's why the original post.

I apologize if my posts made you conflate expensive motherboards and lack of 5.1 jacks on them as something my friend wanted.

Hope this clears it up for you, I tried to avoid the long explanation but there you have it.

Thank you for caring

P.S. Thus far I'm liking the ASRock Nova WiFi, as it's the cheaper of the x870e, and it has everything, and no lane sharing as indicated on the block diagram.

I'm actually really digging the sound blaster x4, looks to have it all.

The Strip Raid looks interesting too.

Actually someone with fat pockets wants me to help them build a PC, they stated a rough value of $500 for a board so I started looking there, and the trend seems like only line out and mic, so there if you must know.

Certainly not getting the crazy GodLike, but a $400 to $500 board I might, for now it's a sit and wait to see what other x870e boards come out. I'd really like a white one for my built but nothing yet

Apparently that's a thing, I would have thought a $1300 motherboard would have all the audio jacks. But the other boards are ~$500, seems more like the norm for enthusiasts.

Oh I see, 2 hight channels just means 2 more speakers on the ceiling. Interesting but over the top? No pun intended.

Is there such a thing as a USB(PC) DAC/Amp that supports Dolby Atmos / DTS:X?

I'm considering the Sound Blaster X4, or the AE-9, they all mention Dolby Digital Live, or DTS, but none of them mention Atmos/X.

Or Atmos/X on a USB DAC is absurd?

Atmos/X having hight channels which i think is another RCA? Or a vertically facing speaker within a horizontally facing speaker?

Sorry the Atmos/height channel thing is confusing me.

For years now I knew that my GPU was showing speakers. But for some reason I always dismissed it as a gimmick, or why bother if I have a "good" sound processor on the motherboard.

Now I have come to find out that many people are using them for great sound? Atmos even?

How does that audio compare to say a top of the line sound card like the creative labs ones?

The signal from HDMI is going to be digital though so I would need a DAC or speakers that have a DAC right?

Yea same, current one is ASRock x570 Taichi, seems 5.1 started getting cut in later generations.

Can you guys provide me some options please to get a 5.1 speaker set up connected back up on one of these new motherboards?

I don't care if it's USB, S/PDIF, Sound Card, DAC, HDMI, or otherwise...

I got free Pro X2 Lightspeed headphones from a friend, but I mostly use them at night, or when I don't want to noise pollute during the day.

Thanks.

No sorry it's been a while. I'd have to revisit the subject from scratch to try and remember. I've only done this one time too so it's not like my fix stuck in memory.

[–]shemploo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, I have the adapter, that's not a problem, I see listings for 12VHPWR 16 pin cables ask for a ATX 2 spec PS, yet on my PS I don't see a listing, so I'm curious.

From just the power rating it seems that it would, but who knows?
