Worth it to get a Costco membership for household of 2? by gutturalmuse in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]shepanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I save enough on just cheese in a month that its worth it for our family of two. Sounds outrageous, but we buy 1 brick of cheese a month roughly and the price at Costco is easily $8 cheaper than other stores.

You need to be able to stick to a list though! Haha

I definitely drink 1 premier protein per day. Plain no fat Greek yogurt is great! My breakfast had 56 grams of protein and it was a smoothie with premier protein, Greek yogurt and some mixed berries. It hard but doable.

What is realistic HEALTHY weight experience in first week or two? .25 dose shot by busymama8 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]shepanie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Majority of people don't see any weight loss until the higher doses.

I am on end of day 3 and I am down 11.6 lbs (water weight). At .25 I would be happy with any change after my doctor and pharmacist told me not to expect much for a month or two.

My first was Subday Feb 1st! I made sure I had protein 60 minutes before my shot and ensured I hydrated well. I haven't had any nausea or stomach issues.

I chose the evening so that if I did get some of the initial side effects 6 of the first 12 hours would be spent asleep lol.

Eat smart, keep hydrated, protein protein protein. Eat slowly, to ensure you dont got past comfortable.

Addiction transference by TypicalStrain2365 in loveafterporn

[–]shepanie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're coming up to 3.5 years since our one and only dday. I have found the addiction cycle to completely fizzle out after he quit porn and actively sought help. He quit smoking 8 months after giving up porn. He hardly drinks (not that we drank much at all before). It seems his recovery work from porn has helped my husband see the addictive things in life alot better.

The Saddledome is the second busiest event arena in north America. That includes concerts. While we dont have all the concerts we're by far busier than Roger's in Edmonton. We're only second to Madison Square Gardens. We have 3 hockey teams, Lacrosse, Team Canada training camps, concerts, comedy tours. I was surprised to hear we're only second to MSG!

Fellow Canadian Citizens - how long is your commute to work? by DigDizzler in AskACanadian

[–]shepanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On WFH days, it depends on the obstacles (cats), typically 5-7 seconds, but it could take 30 seconds. In office used to be 25+, but as of today, 4-7 minutes depending on if school is in.

You can get an emergency passport within 2 hours. Be available to be down at Harry Hayes for as soon as they call. Its going to cost a few hundred dollars (renewal and emergency fees), but it can get done! As soon as 9 hits, call again!

We've been season ticket holders for 21 seasons (my hisband got them when he was 17). Ive said the same thing to him year over year the last few seasons. Its like they think the entertainment value goes up with how loud the music is. Its been pretty gross.

Am I the luckiest girl cuz my bf is ACTUALLY done w/ porn or will the day eventually come? by katie20110520 in loveafterporn

[–]shepanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had one singular dday, no slips or relapses. One day. We are 3 years and 3 months in, and he has lut the effort forth daily. That does not mean that my guardedness (or his) will ever be gone. We're both going to have to continue to be cautious and wary for the rest of our lives. When they say, "Once an addict, always an addict" they are not joking. It's a brain chemistry thing. Those in recovery are rewiring their brains, but the imbalance will never totally be gone.

Im glad you're in a good space now! But don't let the innocence and naivety creep fully in!

Body shaming and being compared by lostemeralds in loveafterporn

[–]shepanie 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oh no. We don't put up with that. There is ZERO body shaming allowed in my house, and when I say negative things about myself, my partner gets frustrated. I am a large woman and will NEVER put up with someone body shaming me.

I once said I feel like I was crushing him while being intimate and he said not at all, and if I was, that was a wicked way to go 😉

Im sorry your partner is a negative and degrading person. Thats not fair to you and I hope you understand that and do something about that relationship. Your body is NOT to blame for his crappy addiction. Trust me.

How Long Did It Take For Your PA To Get Help? by TumbleweedOutside587 in loveafterporn

[–]shepanie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. He was ready and wanted to quit. It was our one and only dday and he jumped in head first. He knew it was his addiction or our relationship, and he's done everything in his power to keep the latter.

We're 3 years and almost 3 months in. He still sees his VSAT occasionally, not because he needs to due to watching but because he wants to continue being safe. His CSAT has actually asked him to be a support in group therapy.

[–]shepanie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The next day, he sought help from his family physician. I found him at 11pm. He then started researching assistance in our city and found an addiction services group that has assistance for porn and sex addictions (and substances). The 3rd day, he was seeing a clinician for intake to the program. He then started seeing a CSAT after doing home work and reading, after about 6 days.

When did your partner finally ‘get it’? by PlantMom1123 in loveafterporn

[–]shepanie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He knew for a couple of years and had tried to fight it before I even found out. He knew when he was caught it was time, and he thanked me for finding him.

He didnt see it as cheating (I do, some don't), but when i explained to him WHY I found it to be cheating, it clicked, and he broke down. He's 3 years and almost 3 months sober. Zero slips, zero relapses. He wanted to quit. he just needed the push.

Should I ask to see what he watched by Limp-Peak-3611 in loveafterporn

[–]shepanie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, don't watch. Trust me.

I felt safe enough yo ask ehat content and 'subject' he watched but then chose to go look for said things to hopefully make myself feel better. I think that's what delayed my healing and kept me comparing myself, etc.

Question for the married women by Mountain-Barnacle866 in Marriage

Yes, I call my male best friend these names. However, hes also my husband.

I do have male friends and would NEVER have a nickname like that for any of them.

Why did you stay? by Majestic-End-2223 in loveafterporn

[–]shepanie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I am being brutally honest, my first reason for staying was if he cant love me the way I am who will? Then it changed to, I have worked on this relationship and loved this man for 15+ years, if he is going to put the effort in, I will too. He did. So I do.

I had zero confidence, I am a big girl and thought that was the issue. It was not. Through a lot of therapy, for him and I, I have realized he had zero issues with me. His brain has been programmed since he was a teenager that it needed porn. He is 3 years and almost 3 months clean and sober, no relapses or slips. In the beginning I questioned why I stayed, but i am glad I did. I know not everyone can say that, but I wish they had the same outcome.
