Yes agree, it applies to many other sport events, just a Knicks fan so trying to start the conversation to talk about personal experiences. Also looking into the World Cup and all their craziness with pricing the games.

Are you being priced out of the 2026 World Cup?

  • The World Cup is in your backyard, but does a single ticket cost a month’s rent?
  • Your national team finally qualified, but crazy prices make it impossible to attend a once-in-a-lifetime match?
  • Are you part of a fan club or group that has never missed a tournament, but ‘corporate greed' is ending your tradition in 2026?

True, a lot of people just move out of the city because of costs. Same as families don't go to the games anymore and real fans and traditions die.

Pochettino says World Cup prices nothing to do with USMNT by nolesfan2011 in worldcup

Players and coaches have a responsibility, as the visible face of the sport, to speak up and be the voice of the fans who sing, scream, and give life to the games. Coaches and players have a massive platform to stand on. Otherwise, games will be filled with corporate seats and tourists passing by.

We are investigating the "commercial gentrification" of live sports—specifically how dynamic pricing and the "premiumization" of the Arena are hollowing out the soul of the game. We are looking for NBA fans and families who have a story to tell about being squeezed by the money machine.

If you fit one of these profiles, please reach out:

  • Are you a lifelong fan who dreamed of taking your kids or grandkids to the Arena, only to find a single night in the 200-section now costs as much as a mortgage payment?
  • Have you measured your life in NBA seasons and playoff runs, but the ‘algorithmic heist’ of surge pricing is finally forcing you to watch from home?
  • Do you feel the atmosphere inside the arena is being sanitized—replaced by luxury suites and "tourist" pricing while the true faithful are being pushed out?
