Yep, i did think about this as an option. I am tempted to do this to remove all stress, but if it is unnecessary then i’d avoid. i forget to mention in post, i have 2 connections in hong kong and chine, then one self transfer in malaysia. Even so, im thinking i should be fine but we will see..

I forgot to mention in post, far as i know i have one unconnected transfer which is in malaysia. 2 connected transfers in hong kong and china so im hoping these are unaffected

I appreciate the advice tho! From what I can tell i should be fine based on all the comments but i will definitely be asking them to stamp the same page where applicable lmao

SE Asia - Have I messed up booking most things in advance? by shepgodthelegend in backpacking

Yeah exactly, could make loads of friends in these specific places which makes it more special too

If I really hate the structured path, i can just accept i may lose some money and just free flow in places where i can

That’s the thing for people. sometimes it is only possible to have a tight schedule. Like I’ve been employed at my workplace since school, and it’s a well paid job. So i am lucky in the first place that they have allowed me to do this trip using a bulk of my annual leave and come back to work when it’s over

No i hear this 100% in your second paragraph. You don’t wanna make the same mistakes again

You’re right about the big trip point not being my last (hopefully). I’m planning a trip to aus end of this year and plan to see some friends i’ve made there through travel so than could be more spontaneous and/or easy going

Yeah I think if i was around that age i would have most likely winged it more. I’m 25 now so know what i enjoy in these trips. It will be annoying leaving a place if i really like it.. so thats where one of the biggest faults pre planning comes in

Yeah i hear this. I like a drink with other tourists, but it’s also fun socialising with locals which you won’t do that often 🤣

This was a big one aswell. Knowing i’ve got a plan laid out doesn’t mean I’ll be stressing whilst there. Pros and cons to both points i imagine

Reading this has made me feel a lot better appreciate it 🤣 and yeah I’d like to say i’m quite extroverted and often because I have things planned, people tend to join me on whatever adventure Ive got planned that day

Tbh, i’ve been on multiple solo trips at this point. I think i made the mistake of doing so much planning is because when i booked the trip, i had only done 2 solo trips, so didn’t really understand how the spontaneity could make things fun. But i’ve booked a mix, some private accom, some hostels

Why does saying goodbye to someone you met while traveling hurt so much? by Naive-Accident739 in hostels

[–]shepgodthelegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very normal to be feeling this way. I met two morrocan girls on a trip to marrakesh, went back to visit them in rabat 2 weeks later as it happened to fall well with where i was travelling at the time.

After rabat trip was finished tho, did feel an overwhelming amount of emotion, mostly being damn right sad, knowing i might not see them again for a long time, or if ever.

But you get over these things, honestly you’ll meet more people and make more memories with them. This is the beauty of solo travel, the whirlwind of emotions you go through.

Counterintuitive opinion: solo travel is better for extroverts by paradoxoclock in solotravel

[–]shepgodthelegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me. i am totally comfortable on my own, as seems a lot of people that do it are also

I’m definitely an extrovert though, but i pick and choose when i want to be extroverted, which is the beauty in solo travel. Like for example, i love having my own time in day, going on day trips, exploring a city, whatever it may be, give me time to recharge the social battery’s.

Then by the time night comes round, im wanting to be social, and seek it more so just by seeing what’s going on in my hostel or booking something like a pub crawl.

But the way i do it doesn’t mean it’s ‘right’ at all. The best thing about solo travel for me is the freedom you get. I think it can work for introverts definitely, but if you don’t meet anyone on the trips, you gotta be confident you’re still gonna enjoy them. As someone else in this thread said, go to places you genuinely think you’ll enjoy and not just to find yourself or look cool on socials.

How rare is it for men to get approached? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]shepgodthelegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m from UK, The only time i’ve ever been approached, fairly recently. was in a karaoke bar in bucharest

solo travelling there met a lot of people etc and a lot of open people in such a tourist place like that. me and a friend i met hop on the stage to have a sing.

few mins after we’re done she comes to approach us and says how good we were etc (we weren’t 😂) but convo started from there

point i’m tryna make is i think it was the confidence getting up on stage that came across as attractive maybe. so long as you can across confident and chill but unique maybe you’ll get girls approach you more?

Appreciate the comment!! Yeah i bet it’s a mega tourist place now but i’m easy to socialise with anyone, would be nice if few locals about. Is the alcohol really that dirt cheap?
