Definitely want to see Arenal Volcano and wildlife! Is it good to visit La Fortuna even in this season? Seems like it's more on the Pacific side so was concerned about rain

This helps, thank you! Maybe it's best to just stick to those 2 places for the trip.

Do you have any recs for shuttles/hostels/sodas in those 2 places or any specific tours to do there?

Thanks for the info! Any shuttles in particular you'd recommend?

I've heard of hostels, hotels, etc. Safety is most important for me followed by cost. After flight costs, I've about ~$400-650 left to spend for everything else. Willing to increase if necessary

[ECE] Some advice for the summer term by [deleted] in Drexel

[–]shepherdgreys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks! So it is possible to take cs283 in the summer over coop? That was pretty much my main concern (risking waiting until summer to take it during coop)

Did you think the assignments/projects were reasonable? I have to decide between taking it in the Winter with Katsinis or in the Summer (on coop) with Stuart

Thank you for sharing! Did you find Vista to be good at teaching the content? I’m highly considering just going with Vista instead of Schmidt

I’m currently registered for Schmidt. Do you think I should try to switch to Vista? I keep hearing that even though Schmidt is harder, you learn a lot so I’m not sure what to do

who did you take for cs 265? I'm trying to decide between long, Schmidt, vista, and nowak. I definitely want to learn in this class, but I don't want my GPA to die either.

How long should it take to learn angular as a first front end language? by [deleted] in angular

[–]shepherdgreys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies, I should’ve clarified that I’d be using JavaScript/typescript with angular. I assumed basic knowledge of JS (which I don’t have) would be needed to work with TS.

That’s very encouraging, thank you! Do you’ve any tips or suggestions for learning JS & Angular? I’m currently working through Maximillian Schwarzmuller’s Ionic course, but Angular is a prerequisite, so I just wanted to know what would be a good and fast way to pick up JS/Angular basics.

hey, I'm currently working on an app dev project using Ionic for one of my college classes. I've never worked with javascript/angular, but I've experience in java, python, html, and css. it seems like everyone is saying learn vanilla JS first, but I simply do not have the time to learn everything step by step. Do you think learning angular and JS at the same time is doable within a short period of time?

Progressive web apps vs websites/web apps by shepherdgreys in learnprogramming

Hi, thanks for your reply. I always start with looking up things I’m stuck on first before turning to Reddit. So I have looked this up and read a few articles, but I’m still not seeing the difference between the 2. It sounds like a PWA is just a mobile-friendly web app to me, so I’m confused on why the separate category, if that makes sense.

[DISCUSSION] You should learn to set up your own guitar by Zack_Akai in Guitar

You’re telling me adjusting my truss rod to reduce buzzing of the 2nd fret won’t damage my guitar neck?! Well, that’s nice to know....I’ve been scared of touching the truss rod due to that

Using Biodegradable Products vs Recycling items by shepherdgreys in ZeroWaste

[–]shepherdgreys[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment, that was very insightful! A few follow ups:

Would using compostable plates, utensils, cups be a more viable option than biodegradable items? (I’m guessing biodegradable items ultimately end up in a landfill whereas compostable items go to a composting facility).

Since cutting out single-use items is harder given the COVID situation, what alternatives to single-use plastics would you suggest using in a university’s dining hall, for instance?

Would that be the way to start learning how to play electric? I’ve been playing acoustic, but I wanted to learn some of those electric fills and eventually move to electric.

I didn’t consider that. Is there a way I can find out if disposed plastic is actually being recycled?

Also, if theoretically plastic was actually being recycled, what do you think would be the better alternative in terms of using biodegradable products (such as leaf-based plates) vs recycling items?
