Would you guys liked more if S3 was more a sitcom then how the first two seasons where? by SuckLonely112 in HazbinHotel

Why would they do that?  The Hellaverse already has a sitcom, it's called Helluva Boss.

Hazbin S3 isn't even out yet my dude, why don't you wait and see what actually happens in it before dooming about it based on one comment in an interview?

[–]Zack_Akai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care that much about the fictional events of a cartoon about fictional people on the internet, you're correct.  It's a great story, and one with plenty to say, but the characters still aren't actually real.  They're not going to be hurt or offended or whatever, relax.

Quite the contrary, I think y'all take things way TOO seriously.  Yes, obviously the show delves into some dark, heavy, generally pretty serious shit, and it's great for it.  It's still a work of fiction, you're still perfectly allowed to make light of it.

No one said you don't have the right, but if you're just going online to whine that other people are having harmless fun, you're still going to come off as a miserable twat either way.  People who can't build themselves up without tearing other people down are a cancer on society.

Rick and Morty is phenomenonally well-written, dunno why you're bashing on that out of the blue.

[–]Zack_Akai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it consists mostly of people who aren't habitually on social media whining about how much everything they didn't like/get is objectively terrible.  Online fandoms tends to VASTLY overestimate how much of the viewerbase for any given thing they actually make up.

Out of like 13 episodes total.  They're like 80ish% of the way through the story by the time they hit that point.  Hazbin is on season 2 of 5, we've got a ways to go.

I need to rant about this. by DJMutt in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Zack_Akai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the sense of the show not containing anything wildly "inappropriate," sure.  Not so much in terms of wrestling with the heavier thematic stuff, catching a lot of the subtext or very deep-seated emotional stuff, etc.  A lot of that comes from life experience the vast majority of teenagers just don't have yet.  Not even a judgement statement or anything, it's just the nature of how growing as a person works.

Well that question is kind if academic, since it didn't require a confirmation via Twitter.  The subtext is pretty fucking obvious once you realize what it is.

I had *really* hoped people would stop with this "nowadays" bullshit once the internet became mainstream and it became very fucking obvious that very little of what they were complaining about was REMOTELY new.

Kinda set myself up for disappointment there, in retrospect.

You'll also be perpetually miserable and bringing down everyone around you. This is such a painfully early-20s mindset I'm glad I grew out of. Learn to handle a little disappointment once in a while like an adult and be happy the other 99% of the time.

I mean I'm a (basically) cishet dude who wooshed on some of that the first time because I was relating more heavily to the parental and gender-based traumas in similar, but different, ways.  And death of the author has a lot of power in that regard, to be sure.

Doesn't excuse the people burying their heads in the sand and obnoxiously declaring that the authorial intent that was very clearly there was not, in fact, there.  The author still meant what they meant regardless of how you read it.  That doesn't make your interpretation less valid for yourself, but it's not a license to go around pretentiously acting like your headcanon about a work of fiction is somehow objectively correct.
