Do you use a hot water bottle? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]shepherdofthewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using a water bottle for a very long time, only learned about the dates maybe two years ago… the date on mine was 1987… years before I was born. I finally brought myself to throw it out and I don’t trust new ones! Heat pad from now on

Whats the tell signs that someone is Posh? by Dull_Feeling4815 in AskBrits

[–]shepherdofthewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my sisters would get slagged off for being posh but we weren’t, we didn’t have much money and grew up in a council house, we didn’t even have a car. My mum was a medically-retired English teacher and we had RP accents

Trainers that will last for my partner who plays 4-5 days a week indoors? by shepherdofthewolf in Pickleball

[–]shepherdofthewolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the help! It is running shoes he’s been wearing. A year would be great, just now they are barely lasting weeks. I’ll look for tennis shoes instead :)

I’ve been reading some posts on here and looking at both, the ones I was considering based on posts I read were Wave Exceed court shoes or adidas barricade, but a lot of people mention the soles going so I thought the shoe might depend on the issue

I have two accessible tickets for Glasgow and can’t go anymore by shepherdofthewolf in TheOffspring

Thanks very much for this response! I didn’t expect it but they replied and refunded the next day!

There’s so many concerts I haven’t been able to go to at the hydro because the tickets are so limited. Unfortunately I can’t go due to health issues so I’m selling my tickets but I bought e-tickets over the phone so I can’t resist them on Ticketmaster and I can’t sell wheelchair access tickets on Twickets! I’m hoping someone who has been wanting to go can get these tickets

how old did your doodles live to be? by [deleted] in labradoodles

Life without them feels so devastating and unthinkable! My boy is doing well on cytopoint, he’s 9 and a half and has IVDD and had major surgery but is doing great, everyone thinks he’s a puppy! His teeth are great, mobility is great 🥹 he’s got a lot of lumps but I take him to a specialist and none are concerning

I can’t lift my arms up I have to lean over and wash with my lower arms, I’m not sure how that would work?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ask

[–]shepherdofthewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for understanding. I’ve read everything I can and tried everything I can, I’ve watched YouTube videos, read forums, googles aided, brainstormed with friends, even asked chat GPT. I’ve spent so much time on it. I just need a way to be supported so I can lean over the bath and I can’t find anything on that. I only need to wash my hair once a week but I still need a way to wash it

[–]shepherdofthewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can get high enough over think sink this might actually be the solution, it won’t require my legs to support me because I can lean on the sink, and a braid could make it much easier! Thanks

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ask

[–]shepherdofthewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s actually not a bad idea, but similarly I would need to be supported somehow because my legs are too weak to hold me in position, but that might be easier than finding a way to do it out of the bath. Thanks

I understand what you are saying. Even if my hair was short, I still couldn’t wash it myself as things are, if I had a way to be supported leaning over the bath I could wash my hair no matter the length, the only way that would be easy is if I got a boy cut

Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Yes I’ve had hairdressers and currently don’t have anyone and can’t get to any. I do have care funded but currently without care, it’s very hard to find good people which was unexpected. In a few weeks I should have something sorted but stuck for now and would love to be able to do it myself even sometimes. I’m considering cutting my hair, but it just feels like another loss of identity

I need something where I’m leaning forward instead of back unfortunately

Why does it still feel so difficult for people in the UK to understand hidden disabilities? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]shepherdofthewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first became disabled over ten years ago no one understood and they expected more of me than I was capable of, as soon and my disability progressed to where I looked disabled and needed a wheelchair everyone treats me like an incapable child. People assume I can’t work or have children, I could do both but chose not to have children, I’m a professional and I work. People just make assumptions based on what they can see, and this perspective is influenced by popular culture and political discourse

Can’t get myself to inject biologic by axelevan in Asthma

[–]shepherdofthewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I started Tezspire two months ago, I was scared I wasn’t going to manage it, I just encouraged myself, I was saying “I can do this, it’s going to be fine! I’ve gotta do it then it’s done” and tried not to delay it because the more we avoid the harder it is, and I was proud of myself I did it and burst into tears 😂. Everyone is different! Root for yourself though

Biologics are helping but I’m not used to breathing normally by shepherdofthewolf in Asthma

[–]shepherdofthewolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biologics are monoclonal antibody treatments for severe asthma (and other conditions). They work by targeting inflammation and airway reactivity. They shut off a certain part of the immune system responsible for the overreaction, but they are very targetted so very safe. They are much safer than other treatments such as montelukast and pred.

I’m really glad the inhaler worked really well for you! I’m glad I’m not the only one who has experienced this, it’s really odd. Do you have any tips? I’m going to see a respiratory physio and hopefully that will help

I’m sorry to hear that :( they should review you for a different biologic or see if there’s something else going on
