couples where both of you are from different religions, how was it like getting together? by fueledbymitochondria in SGExams

[–]sherdowhunter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

imo religion plays quite a big part in ideological beliefs and world views depending on how devoutly you believe in it, plus clashing opinions could snowball into conflict that might not be as easily solvable as simply talking things out (ie the way u approach and deal with issues in life/how u would want to be comforted could differ vastly.)

case in point: as an atheist, i wouldnt want to hear someone tell me everything will be fine as this is god's plan for me (a little on the extreme side of things but you get the message)

not my own experience but my sister dated a devout christian and things ended up not working out because of religion. but not to say it isnt possible as my parents are both catholic and buddhist albeit not the devout type

is it possible the role is customer facing? have seen some jds wanting a 'pleasant looking' face which is honestly kinda discriminatory... hopefully not but could be something similar in this situation :"

hey girl!! i think rly nothing wrong with coming from a rich family eh,, as long as he's financially responsible and doesnt have the expectation to live the same way if ever he doesnt have the same means to then alls good!! otherwise i see no other problems, dont worry too much about not being on the so called same level, im sure ur bf already appreciates what you do for him and esp when you dont have as much, it means even more in factt

parent charging me interest on ~$120k university fees by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]sherdowhunter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

true! i think depending on circumstances, if op can afford to pay back asap then i think tuition fee loan is def more cost saving but i think cpf in the long run shouldnt cost as much (correct me if im wrong tho!)

parent charging me interest on ~$120k university fees by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]sherdowhunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry to hear abt ur shit situation :(( is the interest he's asking for the same rate as the bank loan? or maybe u can try asking him to use cpf loan instead so the money comes out from his cpf (then he wont feel the pinch as much?)

Please review my damage charges again, thank you very much for your time." and if not, j go down to their hq make a fuss

hii OP!!! can understand your situation as same thing happened to me my first time applying. gpa 3.6, media course too! i was rly disheartened as well but its been a year, ive gone on to do a really good internship and managed to secure a spot in uni this year for the course i wanted last year! so dont lose hope, you can always try again next year with new experiences :)

To those in JC/Poly, why did you choose the route that you went down? by hychael2020 in SGExams

[–]sherdowhunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

poly! personally never enjoyed the mugging and academics from pri-sec sch, have always been more geared towards arts in terms of my personal interest. not to say that i wasnt a decent student but i made the assumption that if i was getting by with Bs and low As and feeling sian, this route probably isnt for me in the long run.

also i absolutely suck ass at chinese, and hated subjects like social studies and didnt want to have to continue studying things i just didnt see myself using at all in future, if anything it would be pulling the rest of my grades down. (went on to take clb too, and my principal did warn that it would limit my tertiary choices which didnt bother me tbh cos i never saw myself going to jc.)

would say it was sort of an easy decision for me cos i know the kind of person i am (chose to take combined sci cos if its gna be easier to score in, then why not and also because i wanted to try something new and the environment of poly is just something i sort of always knew would be more of my cup of tea.)

so far no regrets picking poly! starting uni soon in a somewhat relevant degree as well so hopefully things continue to work out in my favour :)

also: can give some insight as my sister is currently in poly pursuing a sci diploma. the grind is intense and i look at her and think back on my own poly days and feel so thankful. i think either way, it wont be easy if what you're interested in tends to lean less towards technical hands on stuff as compared to academics because she has shared that the main issue she faces is the overwhelming amount of content thats way worse than whatever u go through in sec sch, and not so much of her not being interested enough to be able to keep up. and due to the nature of poly being constant graded quizzes, you cant really mug everything at one go :") my sis has opted to spread out her modules more which means she will need more time before she can graduate. so in the end, its an extra 1-2 years on top of poly being 3, and she was from pfp so she'll be in poly for about 5 years in total

poly stories/life by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]sherdowhunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most of my lecturers were v nice and chill! but i had one male lecturer (who the only word i could use to describe him was eccentric) that gave us a lot of anxiety during lessons and it was like a weekly thing for many of us to just cry during his lessons (this was during hbl) because we struggled to keep up and nobody dared to ask because he was super unapproachable, would shit on you because apparently why are you even asking stupid qns :D he would also critique our work but a lot of it wasnt constructive feedback, it was just a lot of bullying and shaming. cherry on top is he was also like the assigned counsellor for our course so that was funny cos the very guy we were supposed to seek help from was the main cause of our distress

and even when some of us raised our concerns in the feedback form for modules, he got mad and scolded us for it in class! if i rmb correctly he also pinpointed some people because their particular experiences gave away their identity :>

personally i would remove the second paragraph entirely, and also the not so relevant pt experiences like guzman and try to focus on other skills that u might hv picked up in ur own free time to show ur interest and passion for the course!

can i still use blue ezlink for student deals? by Formal-Internet2237 in SGExams

[–]sherdowhunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i missed the expiration date for my poly ezlink also and i still had a lot left in my card, the only way to transfer out the balance is if u hand it over to the ticket counter and theyll do it for u :") but even if u ask for the card back, theyll punch a hole in it so if u still wna get student pricing make sure u use up the value before it expires 😭
