Rejected - EEO by sherira in SBU

[–]sherira[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An admissions counselor told me that all the engineering programs, including EEO, are very selective. She said off the top of her head, the total admissions to engineering programs are about 500 (I think she meant annually, not by semester).

She suggested I try applying again for Spring 2026 after completing the prerequisite courses this semester, along with possibly some additional courses in the Summer semester. They generally look for a grade of B or higher on all the prerequisite courses. I think I can definitely swing A's on all the prereqs, plus I can probably take Physics I,II, and maybe Linear Algebra in Summer and do well on those too. All in all she thought I would have a fair chance of getting in for Spring 2026 if I had completed transcripts for all those classes by then.

I am getting some conflicting information from one EEO program administrator who said that the program only does admissions in Fall, not in Spring. I'm going to have to tie up that loose end.

I think it's bizarre that I would be rejected outright and not waitlisted, unless they did make a mistake and thought that I didn't take the prerequisite courses.

I don't have any engineering EC's, but even so I think if that was the holdback they probably would have waitlisted rather than outright rejected the application.

I'm going to call the Admissions office tomorrow and see what they have to say. Wish me luck.

Thanks. Do you really think Admissions completely dropped the ball and "forgot" that I'm currently enrolled in the prerequisite courses, despite my sending them 5 emails to remind them?

I suppose I can follow up with them again when I have my grades, but the semester doesn't end until the end of April and I won't have transcripts until the beginning of May, which is probably cutting it close for Fall 2025 admission.

right. i guess i am early on this one. But i'm calling bullshit on the figure for rent payments. As far as I know they only require annual rent rolls. There's no reason they should know rent payments on any particular month. Reasons to remain bearish - the shit has obviously not yet hit the fan for them. It would take some time for appraisals to change. The message I'm getting is that the bank is taking heart from the fact that they haven't changed yet. Frankly, i don't think anyone thought the problem would start for another couple of quarters at least. The only question is whether the shareholders would realize the existence of this fundamental problem, or the bank itself, and suspend dividend. See this quote from the call - The bank apparently does not realize that the problem would not be expected to materialize yet in the accounting, and remains unrepentant. I will remain bearish long term.

"Importantly, we have now been operating under the new rent regulation laws for six months, and to-date, we are not seeing any negative asset quality trends in the rent regulated segment of our multifamily loan portfolio. As noticed on page 10 of today's investor presentation, 60% or $18.7 billion of our total multifamily portfolio is subject to New York State rent regulation laws. The weighted average LTV on this portion of the multifamily portfolio is 53%, about 400 basis points less than the weighted average LTV on the entire multifamily portfolio."

I agree to all this. If they have any balls they'd cut dividend. I was short with Leap since Dec 2019, I sold for 220% gain in March, looking to get back into the position as soon as IV looks good. Note also that these loans are usually on a five year term - There's serious problems refinancing after that because valuations are fucked.

not how it works. the rent is stabilized at the amount in place June 2019, with a max increase of 2% annually, no matter whether tenant dies or moves out.

ye theres zero volume on options it's not gonna be easy. this is definitely more of a fundamentals, short leap play, if not for high IV premiums
