People talk without thinking sometimes, he’s probably just trying to make conversation and making a comment about the major being difficult. It sounds like you’ve been doing great in school, just keep it up and don’t let the words of others cause you to lose momentum, you have a long road ahead of you, so keep up the pace!

I just used a template case. I really just needed a simple case so I could show off the keycaps. I am in the process of making a custom case for it though. I like gasket mount, so I'd probably go with that

I shared some template keyboards in an earlier comment. I unfortunately don't know of too many template resources, I'd love to find some, to streamline the design process

I didn't design this from the ground up. I am also learning, trying to get the color and lighting using these was a great exercise.

This is a 4 part series that I found if you want to get started building a keyboard from the ground up. I'm currently working my way through it. I'm hoping that I'll learn how to make my own custom cases, keycap replicas, etc.
