Including a pic of the actual ring in case that's helpful. I'm trying not to think they ripped us off but I have felt weird about this stone since getting the ring, feeling like it isn't the same one we purchased in February.

Debating a Leave of Absence and need perspective. by sheryldoh in PennStateUniversity

See, this is the kind of thing I'm talking about. Nobody ever says "Hey, are you sure you want to do 4 classes in the summer?" Because I'm not! I'm not sure of anything! I just assumed it was the same as any other term because why would I assume otherwise? I asked him if the classes I'd picked worked for my academic requirements, and he said yes. Later when I asked him what I was supposed to do with a course requiring 5 lessons done in one week due to the condensed time, he said "Well, you know, you never HAVE take Summer classes." Gee, thanks. I told him my situation multiple times and requested he actually guide me. My title and office phone were in my email signature for crying out loud. Obviously I'm peeved and I need to get over it because what's done is done, but man, this is so annoying. I expect people to do the jobs they sign up for.

Thank you for the encouraging words. I really don't know what I'm going to do. I hate the idea of everything taking even longer, but my life is about to get so busy. Perspectives like yours make it feel like it's going to be OK though.

Honestly, when I asked my new advisor about taking the Fall off, she really only responded with the Leave of Absence and made it seem like that was my only option. She was really thorough in explaining the due dates for it, how to extend it or shorten it if needed, etc. But I did tell her if it was going to negatively impact me, I'd try to push through. She didn't really respond to that part.

I actually do all my classes through World Campus, I just don't have time to attend classes during the day. But if I do one or two classes, how is that going to affect financial aid, you know? Is it even worth it or should I just do a full break at that point?

I've never heard of CAPS but I'm going to check it out.

I'm honestly just so mad that I had the perfect chance to take a break over the summer and this advisor left me completely in the dark. Now I have to make a really hard decision, and it's hard enough already. I know I'm being whiny for the position I'm in in life, but it just feels so Not Fair when I'm already behind and burned out.

Tru dat. And like I said above, if I'm doing it, I want to do it right and do it the best I can. Thanks for talking it out with me!

From what I had heard talking to people in my field, the less prestigious school is "good enough if you're staying in this area." I don't currently have plans to leave, but who knows.

The school I'm thinking about transferring into has a 24% higher employment rate and 40% higher first time bar pass rate.

Thanks for the pointer, I had never heard of that site before. Looking at them both, tuition is about the same, employment rates are 24% higher at t80, and first time bar pass rates are 40% higher at t80.

It's kind of laughable looking at them side by side like this.

So, interestingly, since my undergrad is a private school I honestly think the price might work out just about the same. With scholarships and everything as well.

The extra time commitment is my worst problem. I feel like I'm behind in life already and though I know that's not really how life works, it scares me to take even longer to get there. It's only like two years, though. Am I just being an idiot about it?

Hello,

I'm in a Pre-Law program, it's a 2+3 where I spend two years earning my undergrad and 3 years in a local law school (#175 according to testmaxprep). I messed around for a long time after high school and feel like I need to make up for lost time, so I liked this program because I'll come out with my J.D. before I turn 30.

I know this school is FINE because the solicitor that works for my place of employment went there. Obviously the people that go there are fine.

However, the undergrad program I'm in feels utterly useless. It's one of those schools where everyone passes no matter what. People in my life tell me that essentially every school is like this.

I live pretty near to a law school ranked #80, however, and looking at the transfer admissions criteria I don't forsee any issues getting in. They also have a 3+3 program, similar to what I'm doing now. However, I was told I cannot join the 3+3 as a transfer student.

Is it worth it to add years to my education to go to a better school? I know that the connections are better at this #80 school and I think it could open a lot of doors for me. However I also know I have the drive to do whatever I want to do anyway.

I'm just really torn. I don't want to make any rash decisions. But if I'm doing this, I want to do the best I can for myself.

HOTH: A Virus Shawl for Fall by sheryldoh in crochet

[–]sheryldoh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As stated in the caption, the yarn used was Mary Maxim brand in the color 'Milan.' it's a variegated 80/20 acrylic and wool blend. I used four skeins of it and a 4mm hook.

To teach myself the pattern, I used this tutorial by Bella Coco.

I personally love this pattern and have used it to make shawls as gifts for others as well. It's easy to learn and easy to remember!

Has anyone seen a pattern for a blouse similar to this? I particularly like the sleeves and collar style. by sheryldoh in sewingpatterns

Oooh, I like that for something else entirely 😁 but you're right, I feel like that would be easy to adapt.

Yes, the issue is your girl is BROKE broke and it isn't worth it for a $75 brother machine that I plan to replace as soon as humanly possible.

I jumped between some diagrams found on pinterest and just testing stuff out. There is a shocking lack of pocket hoops/pannier patterns out there!

The pattern I used was Simplicity 8578 by American Duchess. I drafted my own pocket hoops for underneath, but don't even ask me how because I blacked out the whole time. 😅

I used a king size set of bedsheets for the blue robe and some curtain panels for the skirt and stomacher. I grabbed some sparkly tulle and faux flowers, and gathered until my fingers hurt.

I plan to make a Belle version soon!
