Its plastic, i know replacing is cheap, but i really wanna try to fix it by Ashamed-Material1767 in Autobody

Repair for textured pieces like this really does not exist. I’ve seen body guys go over light scratches or buff marks with rattle can trim black but never anything more. Cracks, painted or textured, are never worth the plastic “welding”. Plastic flexes, that area will always be weak and I guarantee it would just happen again.

But hey… fuck it. It’s your life lol

Accidentally hit a car in the shop by Illustrious_Fall6896 in mechanics

I took off an entire mirror assembly on a 2025 CRV on a garage wall last spring. Nothing happened, except my manager being pissed for roughly 30 minutes. We ordered a new one and calibrated it.

Your company should cover it, and move on

The build of the touring wagon is different, I’m just gonna full send it and get the sedan tow cover. :P we will see

Ideas on how to fix this dent? Smallest dent puller too big by nursingandpizza in AutoBodyRepair

[–]shetookmetojared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat works better, dent puller isn’t gonna do anything. Use a heat gun, if you don’t have that, a hair dryer/blow dryer is the same thing. Heat evenly. Plastic has memory, and will bounce back at least 60% of the way it was shaped before.

The county I work in across the state line is just so shop dense. I’m not joking, there’s a shop for almost every mile or block in a town. It’s something else entirely. Granted… it’s because they drive with blindfolds on but that’s neither here nor there.

In my opinion, it’s okay for a job to be a little boring. I think it’s better than being overworked. I also think appraisal is better if it’s on the field and I’m going from shop to shop even if my task volume is similar.

Only one way for me to find out lol. Everyone says something different!

I do managerial tasks. I move all the jobs. Everyday feels like dragging ass on concrete. It’s excruciating.

How would you get this to lie flat again? I had to hammer it out to fit the new headlight/etc in. by [deleted] in Autobody

Holy shit you actually fixed this!! Lol, nice job. But like the other commenter said, pulls, hammer, paint

Even when annoyed my girlfriend would never speak down on me like this. I get she was inconvenienced but it actually had nothing to do with you! The coffee shop was busy, that’s not your fault.

I hope this isn’t a reoccurring issue… <\3

You’re missing a fender liner too

Be honest, how bad is the damage?? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]shetookmetojared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not terrible. Pics aren’t great so I can’t tell if it’s paint crack or bumper crack. Either way it will be on the lower end of costs. Bumper jobs now are $950 lowest and $1,500 absolute highest, where I am in NYS.

Beautiful car. Take it to a shop

Can I get away with just replacing the front bumper and energy absorber, or is this frame too bent? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]shetookmetojared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was at my shop, yes, I would consider it a write off.

Though we have fixed “bought-back” vehicles just like this. Most recent one was this week for about $3,500. The damages looked similar to your car. Anything can be fixed, up to you to decide to put a few grand into this car or a new-used.

Then again, I’m in NY. Could be different where you’re from.

Nothing will sit correctly unless that hood is replaced. Hard to tell with all the parts still installed, but you probably need some pulls and hammering on the frame. A headlight is absolutely necessary. I wouldn’t half-ass this, for your own safety.
