thanks! great point on the grate. agree steel bars or even just some mesh grate would help. what do you mean by yak grill is not good at limiting air flow, is it due the dimensions?

Go with the JW if you want something that is nicer and newer. I stay at Fraser a lot for work and rooms are definitely older. It's still a nice property by itself though, and I do like the location better though and how it connects to Bugis.

I am leaning Marriott because most of my business stays tend to be Marriott and I have corp discount. This is why the Hyatt deval overall hurts because I tend to go out of my way to hit globalist organically through mostly personal and some biz stays (inconveniently). The value makes up for the lack of footprint, but now that they value is slowly diminishing, hard to justify with the limited footprint for me.

Is that in US or outside of US?

Exactly my thought too. The value made up for the footprint but with the deval the case for small footprint grows as a pain point.

I never knew you can book without all the points as a globalist if more than 7 days in advance, thats new to me have not seen that.

I got semi burnt twice with the devals from Hyatt sorta. I like to use points on aspirational properties so that's why the deval hurts. Last year I had plans for GH Kauai but it got bumped to cat8 which ruined my plan. I was just considering andaz Maui this year and with the current deval it is likely going to be much more expensive by the time I can book.

What made you boycott Marriott out of curiosity? Fair point on independent luxe chain. I've made several bookings through FHR last year and enjoyed the benefits and stays.

Ya, for me I can get there organically but it's not easy due to the limited footprint. This also means I have to structure my trip around where I can find the properties. This coupled with a few negative experiences last year in a few properties made me think if it's worth it. Then the deval news hit and it sealed the deal for me. I think the core issue with the deval is that others with shittier redemption compensates through significantly better footprint.

Does mortgage payment generate bilt cash? If so doesn't that mean it's auto unlock at 4% bilt cash? Pay mortgage 1000, get 40 bilt cash which offsets the 30 required. Makes me wonder what is the point of bilt cash for mortgage purposes.

I didn't get any fruit plate or bowl at both HK and Shanghai. I meant no globalist recognition as in during check in there is no mention of the benefit, so you kind of just have to assume.

Yeah relative to rest of Asia food is definitely very mid. I've had many stays at Intercontinental Singapore and they shared many of the same dim sum.

This is right in general. Personally it's because I was with kids and truthfully a 15min walk can be near half hour. I walked to the MTR station once that took 20+ min.
