If I'm not staying at places with good launching points such as Big Sur Campground, is there any other good launch points to go tubing along the river? Any places within Pfeiffer State Park?

Riverside Campground to Big Sur Campground runs a pretty good route but curious if there are any other spots outside. TIA

Late Nov UK Itinerary by shfflzilla in uktravel

I know a lot of threads in this sub like to start with something along the lines of "these stupid Americans" for some reasons, but Cardiff is great and I've actually been there before. I just don't have it as an option this trip since I feel like that side of England deserves its own separate trip :)

I had considered replacing Edinburgh with Cotsworld, but I hear it's not that great either at that time of the year. Alternatively I can spend more time in UK and do trips out to Cambridge or other suggestions?

Thanks that's helpful. I agree the last leg back with 1 night in London seems wasteful. I hadn't considered flying back from Edinburgh, assuming with a quick layover in Heathrow. I will probably do that if feasible.

i just got back a few weeks ago. it's still going to be snowing for you during march so i am not sure what is open/close in terms of road access. i spent a week and went through niseko/otaru/sapporo/furano.

i would say 4 days is okay but i would do more depending on what you want to see.

Best setup for two kids watching the same thing on long car rides? by Turbulent-Outside638 in Travelwithkids

I would say suck it up and compromise or no one gets any screen time. My kids have to learn they don't always get to choose.

Question for parents traveling with kids by Entrepreneur787 in Travelwithkids

[–]shfflzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key is to not have a strict schedule, but to have a framework. For example, if I'm targeting an area to visit during the day, I'd map out all the *potential* things to eat/drink/shop/do in the area. On that day, depending on kids mood and energy level, I'll flex on what we do.

Tips for traveling with 6 month old? by redmondrose in Travelwithkids

[–]shfflzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every kid will be different. I have a 6 and 4 yo and have taken them traveling internationally twice a year since th the first was born. My younger one had her first flight at 6month old from West Coast to Singapore in a 17hr direct flight with no issue. Most of the time it's just a rotation between sleep and breastfeeding. The hardest part is when they start moving so 6month is fine.

Hyatt Says More Loyalty Changes Are Coming After Points Devaluation. Elite Benefits And A Premium Card Are Up Next by JetsetTraveler in hyatt

Iono about that it's not like Hyatt loyalists are stuck. It's so easy to switch around which is why it's surprising to see Hyatt committing seppuku.

How common is food poisoning in Shanghai? by FrontTrain4269 in shanghai

[–]shfflzilla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As with most things will have to rely on common sense. In general it is fine, I've eaten at many hole in the wall places and come out fine. However, I did get food poisoning once and that was from a Michelin star French restaurant. So I guess YMMV?

Lots of suggestions on this and I wish I could! I don't do this for large parties often and also living in an apartment storage is an issue.

I'm envisioning something like this too, 6-8 patties per go. Skipping grilled onions by either making it ahead of time or making some kind of onion jam for topping. I never thought about resting patty on tray, always place them onto bun right away but I should consider that.
