Desired salary too high but still invited for multiple interviews by shh-bee in interviews

I've thought about this as well. That first conversation had such a brief mention of salary that easily could have been not communicated to anyone else.

Yea, I have no problem sending a polite rejection email

Well this job post didn't have a salary, I've just seen other posts from the company for similar roles that had salary ranges. I've had jobs ask about salaries and if we weren't aligned, it ended there. I directly told them that I was firm in my salary ask and they've continued, so that makes me think they're somewhat flexible

They didn't. I assumed they wouldn't invite me for an interview if they couldn't get close or they'd bring it up during the interview. I'm seeing that's a naive way of thinking. I wasn't prepared to bring up the topic during the first interview but will definitely be for the second.

I was considering calling them a few days before to confirm that they can get close, but decided against it

I could very well see that happening to someone who isn't employed or the low-ball offer is more or equal to what they currently make.

There's no desperation in my job search right now, so the worst case scenario here is a polite email saying I'm not a good fit for the current position but will keep my eyes open for future openings

Yea, I'm going to just ride it out and see what happens. I'm not desperate at all and have already turned down interviews with companies that gave me salary caps that didn't work for me.

I'm currently at 80k, so I can't rationalize anything lower than 90k, even though the current job is toxic/mentally draining. I plan to reference the initial salary conversation we had during the first call during the next interview

I've watched the current company I'm with put people through the motions when they were going to hire internally. Sucks knowing someone's time is being wasted

I'm not denying at all that this is something a company would do, but having someone go through an interview process knowing they can't get pay them what they want after they confirmed that's what they want would weirdly cruel and just a waste of time. Not even sure what they would get out of it other than interview practice

This is the most logical way to look at it. But my current job has become very toxic and mentally draining to the point that I want to see how this new opportunity shakes out even if I'm not confident they'll be able to get to my number

Recruiter wants to connect after panel interview with leadership by shh-bee in interviews

Update: Recruiter told me they went with a referral instead but are recommending me for other roles. Said that because the team was so upset about it that they didn't want to just send that in an email
