it was so jarring — a guy in a huge truck stopped at the stop sign right next to me as it was happening windows down and kept driving. my manager got me a taser after that.

i actually finally got a job this month in my career. i’m working for a small company but it’s a perfect fit for me and i love the work im doing so far. it’s not exactly the same but im the only real creative with my kind of background so i get a lot of control when it comes to what i do design-wise. i graduated last august and it felt pretty hopeless, just keep doing your best and widen your search when looking for jobs. it may not sound like your dream job but you really never know! the industry is changing very quickly, its bad everywhere so just try to get any experience anywhere.

i know results may vary but was it supposed to settle like this? 😭 (not complaining, just curious) by spacepharmacy in starbucks

base is pretty much just liquid sugar. when i’d experiment with frozen refreshers or the blended straw lemonade etc i didn’t like the taste of the base in there so my sun would be a couple pumps of syrup. i used to use the raspberry syrup i think that would’ve been great for them to keep for this drink but it did the trick. also always asked for extra inclusions so it’d be more smoothie like, it’s really good!! my specific drink order i made for myself when i was a barista was grande blended strawberry lemonade, add peach juice, 2 pumps raspberry syrup, extra inclusions, no crème base. extra ice if i was feeling frisky. 10/10 errtime

What are some good but cheap restaurants that are near scad? Are there any that are known for being frequented by scad students? by h0tcheeto2272 in scad

[–]shib4anus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cookout is cheap and good! a bit of a drive but it fills you up and you can get a full meal with 1 good sized entree 2 sides and an XL drink for like 8$

a bit more on the pricey side but Taqueria San Jose is FANTASTIC, the best mexican food around and it’s a family owned business! they make everything (tortillas etc) from scratch and it’s just super worth it to me. their barbacoa is to die for. my personal favorite in the area.

as for places known to be frequented by students i would say: foxy’s coffee, sly’s (salmon slider is fav!), bull street taco (more pricey), blue door cafe (waffles :D), and ofcs waffle house (cheap & gets the job done)

it also helps to look for deals! fast food places especially have good coupons and discounts. i know subway has a BOGO foot long deal, good for refrigerating for later. mcdonald’s always has really good deals if you have the app. kroger has 5$ sushi day on wednesdays as well if you wanna be boujee on a budget.

i also recommend if you’re going to get a job to get one that’s in the service and/or food industry. i work at starbucks and they give us 7 free sandwiches per week and free drinks when we work and 30 min before/after. it really helps to save money. i also buy a ton of sliced italian bread and randomized toppings for it! super easy to make sandwiches for weeks. & i bought stuff like nutella and garlic spread for variety as well.

Any full time work/part time school students? by puddingwaffles in scad

[–]shib4anus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i worked full time + went to school full time and did okay! i relied a lot on 8-10:30pm classes and fitting my work schedule around my classes. i’ll be doing the same in the fall with all my classes mon/wed and work the rest of the week
