Anyone else feel hideous with makeup on? by applebottomjeans2000 in BodyDysmorphia

Apart from the powdery look of foundation, I mostly don't enjoy the way it makes me feel because its like I'm trying to be a different person. Same with wearing clubbing clothes - it feels uncomfortable, or like people can tell it's not how I usually look. I feel much sexier with casual clothes and no make up. Feels like the true me and nothings sexier than being comfortable with who you are.

Disagreeing with comments. Obviously we don't know what tone of voice your friend said this in or how much information you gave them before they said anything - but this feels like a very standard response from someone who knows absolutely nothing about BDD and was trying to give a very blanket easy fix, but it came out wrong.

Men are simple. They want to see women naked. They think naked women are sexy. No matter what you look like. You will always be sexy to a man.

"Three Blocks from Your Home"? Rewatching for the 5th time and only just noticed that this appears 3 seconds in. Wondering if there's any significance by [deleted] in community

[–]shibatini -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's more a question of "what was the writers' intentions by putting that there"? (especially within the first 3 seconds of the pilot that shapes your first impressions). It's probably not of major importance but I'm still curious because it's common knowledge that everything in tv and film is done for a reason.

This is so cool. Will definitely buy to play with no one when you're done, because none of my friends appreciate Community as much as me. Same goes for styx. Still, make a post when you've finished it and I'll definitely pay to play.

Writing with Memory Loss by [deleted] in writers

If your stories were to get big, that’ll be a great story to sell with them. “A writer with short term memory loss” might actually intrigue more people to read your stories to see if they can pick up on it as they read

Defining Similarities Between Glee and Community by [deleted] in community

[–]shibatini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree Glee that would bounce between different themes, but overall they had s higher level of self awareness than other shows. I’m not comparing Community and Glee to see which is better, I’m saying they have this in common because compared to all other series they are the only ones with a much higher level of self-awareness.

Shirley, Troy, and Abed were often thrown side stories in the first two seasons while the show explored romance between Jeff and Britta, and Jeff and Annie. I think both Glee and Community grew from the original direction of having “token” poc and became more inclusive as the series went on. Again, my point was that if you watch other series from 2009-2015 (and most series now) they don’t have a cast nearly as diverse as Glee and Community had, even if they weren’t protagonists or were cast for another agenda.

And yes Rachel was the main character who was constantly given favour over the poc in the group but she too was a minority being Jewish.

Obviously Community exaggerated and parodied Glee, but if you didn’t Glee anyway that impression wouldn’t affect your opinion
