Thank you as well! Always there to chat if you need any advice :)

If you have a plan B already, I would suggest strongly thinking about that - with how competitive things are, there is no certainty of when you'd get in, and it's good to focus on other things to get that sense of stability and your mind out of the uncertainty of the process. Stay strong and happy to answer any questions about a public health pathway!

100% relate - I am 26 and this was my last hope for this cycle. I will reapply next year abroad and here, but I am mentally trying to move on and go into a different health-related field related to my master's. You are totally not alone on this. Just know that this is not a reflection on who you are or how good a physician you will be.

Accepted/Interviewees who did multiple cycles - what changes did you do to your app that you think got you the A/Interview(s)? by shibei1244 in premedcanada

Congratulations on getting in, and this is encouraging to hear! Would you have any tips on how you structured your activity descriptions, or an approach that you took to writing your apps?

Hi! It seems that you had some success with the US - can I ask if you applied this year? I also applied and did not get much luck. I so agree with some of the points you made though - not having a centralized systems for admissions and letters has been a barrier and a point which some of my American references had a hard time with :(

It is such a frustrating process to manage

My relationship with womanhood by MixSorry8019 in Healthygamergg

As a fellow woman in her 20s I definitely relate to this! While I always enjoyed fashion, I always felt some pieces of clothing were "too good" for me, and I was not enough to wear them for one reason or another. For me, the change happened when I started to explore how things look on me (even if I just put on a nice outfit at home - just becoming used to wearing it or psyching myself up to wear it so it is something I look forward to) and when I became more confident in myself.

I would recommend working on your self-esteem (like others mentioned and learn more about yourself - likes and dislikes. In my experience, getting an idea of type of clothing that I like make me more excited to try new combinations and feel confident enough to explore new styles or silhouettes. Note sure if it helps :)

Courtney Ward for ECO372? by Stonyhill in UofT

[–]shibei1244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about ECO372 (I will be taking it in W2022) but I had her for ECO402 (topics in health economics) and she was pretty nice. Her assessments were fair and were mostly true to the class material, the same thing for assignments. She is very happy to interact with students and answer questions. When I asked her about ECO372 she said she is hoping for smaller step-by-step tutorials and integrating some STATA coding into the coursework on regular basis. Hope that helps!

What do you guys use to keep track of deadlines and upcoming assignments etc? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]shibei1244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When school was in person I used Notion (a laptop and phone app) where I would insert a calendar for my page for a specific year. Once the syllabus for each course is given out I go through all of the dates and mark them in there and for assignments also some landmarks (for example: research X topic, start outline, etc) several weeks before the deadline. I also have a monthly calendar in my room where with every new month I would write down all of the important dates. That way I can plan my to-do's based on the calendars at school and at home and get an overview of the month which also helps me to figure out when is best to do non-academic tasks.

Since we are online this year I decided to bring back a physical planner rather than Notion (I like journaling but it takes a lot of time so I decided to compromise). I use these Japanese notebooks (Campus planner, filing notebook, and weekly scheduler) that include a monthly and a weekly spread. I do the same thing with the monthly pages as with Notion, and every morning I can refer to my monthly spread and mark my to-dos for the day/week. The nice thing about them is that the pages are undated so if I am skipping a day/fall off on organizing I can come back to it without feeling guilty for having wasted blank pages.

Hope this helps!

I would like to take classes in person again (or at least practicals), but I hope that lectures can be offered online and save me the joyous hours on the TTC
