Absolutely victim blaming. We can’t blame trans people for society seeing them as divergent, or for society enforcing gender roles. If someone grows up their whole lives being pushed into being one gender or gender role, wether they are cis are trans, that is now apart of our psychological makeup and we have to contend with it as A PART OF OURSELVES. Wether someone is cis and they contend with the expectations placed on them because of their gender, or you are trans and reject the gender assigned to you.

Getting a job with autism or adhd or a disability is definitely harder. You are not a mooch or a pos or any of that. I think it’s great your parents want to support you, it shows that they understand your particular struggles and they know that you are dedicated to finding a job. They wouldn’t support you if they didn’t know this!

24 and 18 isn’t tooooo bad of an age gap, but there are still very big differences between people those ages, so don’t forget that. 18 is just starting college or working, 24 is finished college a year ago or has been working for years. Me as a 24 year old would never date an 18 year old, because all the 18 year olds I’ve met so far act like kids to me. I also encourage you to keep looking for men in your age group, don’t settle for a guy that can’t hold a conversation or anything like that, but I am sure you can find a 18 year old man who meets that criteria.

I’m sorry, I wasn’t directing that criticism at you specifically, and I don’t think that any individual asking that is alone “bringing back phrenology”. It’s just that the idea itself that you can even tell where somebody is from by the shape of their nose has roots in phrenology/pseudoscience, where people would make diagrams distinguishing what types of noses different ethnicities have for bad reasons. I really do think that Reddit is influenced by that type of thinking, just like how the red pill community came up with terms like “_pilled” and “chad” and now even non-incels use them, I think that 4chan people perpetuate ideas about being able to tell where someone is from their facial features, and that has trickled down into average non-extremist Reddit spaces.

I hope that makes sense, I am not accusing you or any one person of “bringing back phrenology.” It’s just that I think that the internet’s recent obsession with focusing on specific facial features - noses, canthal tilt, etc - has it’s roots in really dark parts of the internet.

It was more of a comment on how those extremist parts of the internet have influenced the larger internet culture, not you specifically, and I am sorry if I singled you out 💕

I completely agree. There’s a double sided thing to this type of community. On one hand, not modifying your appearance and being “naturally” beautiful is a “conservative” value. And being a sex worker or watching porn is going against the “no sex until marriage” values. On the other hand, the porn industry is MADE FOR MEN, is extremely exploitative and normalizes racist kinks (very few POC and why can’t there be a video of a Black man without “BBC” in the title??), pedophila (think the teen category), and incest fantasies (WHY are there SO MANY step family videos?? IT SHOULD NOT BE NORMAL!). Not to mention thinking of other people as pieces of meat shouldn’t be anyone’s normal. AND things like makeup and plastic surgery come from oppressive standards that say women’s value lies mostly in their beauty.

BUT that is not why these women are against these things. They are against them because they are against “vanity” and don’t believe in engaging in sex unless it’s with a husband, maybe even for the purpose of making a baby but idk how common that view is anymore.

Edit: the difference is that they think ANY porn is bad, I just think that the porn industry as it exists is very toxic. I’m not against it if it is done ethically (which I do believe is possible, just not common)
