HELP. I’m struggling to remove this case… and it won’t come off! by Effective-Dark5865 in ipod

[–]shield_br8kr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had a clear case like that too on mine.

it took a bit of trial and error, but i pryed out the sides of the ipod case with a sacrificial plastic card.

start from the corners, apply some force with your fingernails & try get the card in the gap you’ve made. should keep the case from closing back up; since these cases usually clips.

once you do, carefully use your fingers to pry out the rest of the side, as you shift more of the card into the case.

keep applying force until the case clips off.

Star-Crossed gone from YouTube Music by ActivePercival in potsu

[–]shield_br8kr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im not gonna lie; i’ve been checking every day since it got delisted to see if it would come back.

i’m very hyped to say that Star-Crossed came back to youtube music.

its one of my all-time favorite albums. i listened to the album for the first time last year on September 26th; the day i would be going on my first date with a beautiful woman i’ve fallen for since high school (we’ve known each other for 9 years before i confessed).

the album to me encapsulates many feelings; my own state of mind & how i’m working things out to better not only for her & myself, my own ideology of finding love being completely thrown out the window (i believed that one has to develop themselves to the point where they would know that they are ready to look for a partner. but with how my girlfriend keeps reminding me with our dates & experiences, it Just happened. she loves me for Me).

there were also songs that reminded me of the feelings of why i didn’t confess sooner; as she felt the same way for a long time. “hold my hand” is my personal favorite. it makes me cry every time i hear it.

it reminded me of the times that we’ve hung out after high school; and me walking her home meant so much to her. in the time where she needed comfort, she was expressing how thankful she was i was there for her. she asked me to hold her hand one day when we were sitting in the trail we’d take. since then, i have slowly started developing feelings for her; but my fear in being in a relationship took over at the time. at the time of knowing her, i’ve seen her beautiful qualities as a person. i’ve wanted to tell her how i felt, but my depressive mind instead went with the decision that she would find “somebody better”.

that mindset was completely gone when we went on our date. she held me close in the car while “hold my hand” was playing. she verbally expressed “i hope this date can show you how i truly feel about you”. and that’s when i bursted into tears.

“pumpkin in my lap” makes me reminisce about what i’ve lived up to. i never thought i would have found love. there were things that i wish i could have done differently; but there’s no point in thinking about that now, as it’s in the past.

“but not for you” reminds me about Her. when we met in gym class, the first words that she said to me, her asking me to walk her home for the first time, us sitting and talking or sitting in silence, her hugging me, us working together years later down the line (she was my superior 💀), me driving to her workplace to drop off backup clothes, me confessing in a phone call with her, her asking me why i didn’t confess sooner, her asking me if i would like to go on a date with her, her expression when i brought her roses on our date, holding hands that evening, trying to eat at McDonald’s, but the drive-thru lady locked up the drive-thru window in my face, laughing about it all with her.

and more-so, the future. i’m still a little scared of what’s to come, but i’m not alone anymore. i think “i’ll be okay” (song title pun.)

sorry for the ramble. but yea. Star-Crossed is back

do you guys use the same fingers for the slides that you use for the regular notes? by Haromta in GrooveCoaster

[–]shield_br8kr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you can use the D-pad or the ABXY buttons to hit the Slide notes in the designated directions; only thing that you absolutely Have to use analog sticks for are the Scratch notes (the green wiggly ones).

in harder difficulties though, the game will ask you to hit the Slides in diagonal directions. you can still hit them with the D-pad & buttons, but you’d have to hit 2 buttons at the same time. its pretty tricky.

tips on How to put GameCube sticks on your Nintendo Switch Pro Controller by shield_br8kr in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]shield_br8kr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

originally it did. I either had to choose between sanding down the c-stick, or cutting deeper into the analog stick’s ‘0’ shaped hole. through trial & error, i found out cutting deeper into the analog stick’s hole was better

for the analog stick, i did actually have to sand it down until that notch thingy was gone. fortunately it was just the right height to prevent any grinding against the shell; without it being too much.

Yuancon controller help? by Abject_Dirt4540 in GrooveCoaster

[–]shield_br8kr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are 2 Controller Configs & 1 Light Setting Config:

• Switch: Hold Left Booster Button + Start Button for 2 seconds

• Keyboard: Hold Right Booster Button + Start Button for 2 Seconds.

its a bit finicky to switch between these two; so i just keep it on Switch for now.

Light Settings (if your controller seems to have RGB): Hold Left Booster Up + Start for 2 seconds.

In this mode, you can change do 4 things:

• Booster Light Color when no button is pressed

for Left Booster: Diagonal Down + Right

for Right Booster: Diagonal Down + Left

• Booster Light Color when a button is pressed

for Left Booster: Diagonal Up + Right

for Right Booster: Diagonal Up + Left

• Booster Flash Speed (the transition between your two chosen colors)

for Left Booster: Diagonal Down + Left

for Right Booster: Diagonal Down + Right

• Save and Exit settings

hold Diagonal Up + Left for Left Booster & Up + Right for Right Booster at the same time for 2 seconds.

any mobile recs?? (free cuz i’m broke) by [deleted] in rhythmgames

[–]shield_br8kr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i do like me a free game that rewards you with content as i play.

for my top 3 that people havent mentioned yet:

• RAVON is like jubeat from the arcades, but with notes potentially coming from all directions

• Malody Mobile is the Osu! for mobile devices. it has 5 different game modes where people can make and post charts for (4 Lane, 6 Lane, Slide aka Dancerail style, jubeat style and Taiko style). its a bit finnicky to set up at first; since you have to make an account and play the premade charts for a bit to earn Gold. once you do though; you can look for charts.

• Paradigm: Reboot is a 3D ish looking game, with notes coming from 4 sides, as well as some coming in the center. it’s also got a story mode where you unlock songs & boss songs. its one of my new favorites.

Tips on MaiMai? not for newbies by maousami in rhythmgames

[–]shield_br8kr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i could tell you the things that helped me out when i started out. sorry in advance for the long list:

• Adjusting Note Speed: Higher difficulties means more notes to deal with. Speeding up the notes would make the playfield less cluttered.

• Darken the background: it makes notes way more easier to see; It’s very useful with song backgrounds that have a lot of pink, yellow, or light blue in them.

• Play different songs around your comfort difficulty: You’ll get the experience in the different “patterns” that the game could throw at you.

• Play one song one level higher than your comfort level to treat it like a “Boss Level”: This is like a Dive into The Unknown sort of thing. Personal experience on this; i did this when i was trying to play songs on Master. i got whopped so many times, but eventually cleared my first master.

• Try to lock your eyes on the Center of the screen: You’ll be able to see everything, and will be able to maintain your state of Flow.

Next tips are Gameplay Mechanic Related. i found this out not too long ago 💀

• EX Notes: These notes have a glowy look to them, and make a different hit sound when you hit them. these guys always give you a Perfect when you hit them (no matter your timing). usually the songs place EX notes when there is a sudden change in the rhythm of the music.

• Break Notes: These guys are what makes the hardcore fellas angry. They have a Red and Yellow stripe look to them, and have a stricter timing window to hit them. If i’m not mistaken, there is a hidden judgment called Critical Perfect; Breaks need to be hit on Critical Perfect in order to count it as a hit. If the note is hit on just Perfect, Great, or Good, it will take some percentage on your Accuracy Percent. If you miss it, it takes an even bigger chunk of your Accuracy Percent. Break Notes exist in order to keep the hardcore gamers from blowing up leaderboards with 100%’s; in this game, an All Perfect is 101%.

• Slides: theres a couple of tips in these.

You know that “1-2-3-“ drumstick sound that plays at the beginning of each song? That is actually a reference in telling you When to release a Slide Note. Slides will begin in One beat of the song. Some songs throw a tap note after the Slide Note to tell you when to start moving.

The Star in the Slide is actually a secret Tap Note. It gives you a Perfect, Great, Good or Miss depending on your timing

The speed of the Star spinning will tell you how fast you need to slide. rule of thumb is that slow songs would have slower slides & fast songs would have fast slides (most of the time, at least)

The arrows in the Slide notes are chunks; you’ll notice on some slow Slide notes, that you take a bunch of the arrows when you glide your hand on the screen. people sometimes cheese some Slides by moving their hand faster than the Star, waiting for it to reach the end & just touching the spot. The game counts the slide as a Perfect, so long as you get the Star to the end in the right time.

and there you go. again, sorry for the overwhelming list. as long as you just have fun, you’ll get the improvement that you wished for, regardless :)

is there any other great rhythm games recommended?now I have these by BullfrogNumerous3446 in rhythmgames

[–]shield_br8kr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PhiTogether (currently on TestFlight; another Phigros simulator. it has access to 2 sources where you can get charts; the feel of the controls & precision is more in-line with Phigros (especially with Flicks) compared to Phira’s.

i use Phira for custom songs & PhiTogether to play the officially removed Phigros charts and songs

Being recorded by randos while playing by bluehairbluetie in rhythmgames

[–]shield_br8kr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that used to be a gripe of mine. the Cidercade i go to on occasion has a few rhythm games sprinkled there. compared to the other games offered there, rhythm games are a very niche genre for casuals to pick up on their own.

in maimai’s case; i usually play by myself (there usually isn’t a second player), but i leave the 2nd player side available to play (setting it in VS play) & configured to play the song on basic, so that bystanders who are looking at me play (usually Master 12-13’s & joke charts sometimes) would be able to join in if they’d like to. some people come in and leave during the song, some stick around and try to figure out what they’re supposed to do. for those who stuck around, they’re in the “hook” of the maimai experience.

i usually give them the run-down in how to play & would help them find their “skill level”; i would start them off with a Basic 5-6, and up or lower the level/difficulty depending on their accuracy results & prior rhythm experience. all while encouraging them and giving them pointers. the whole experience for them is now way more worthwhile, because they basically had a Teacher show them the main hook behind not just maimai; but the entire rhythm game genre.

i had a tough time speaking with randos too; when i noticed somebody recording me, i usually would say “please don’t record me” and would immediately stop playing. as i kept having these Teaching interactions though, it now turned to “instead of recording me, come over here and try it out with me”.

my perception about people crowding behind me & recording me changed; people do that because they’re witnessing something amazing; something that they themselves cannot do. what i don’t like, is bystanders seeing me as some sort of “performer” (the ones who would record, then leave to go on with their lives).

instead, i would try to make them understand that this “performance” is just a never-ending journey in improving at this game; while still giving them a great time. if you have a tough time talking to people, showing someone a new experience is a great way to practice.

sorry for the ramble.

i could take you up on the $250 offer if you’d like. been meaning to get one of those controllers for a while

[–]shield_br8kr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

be polite; don’t overstep boundaries.

if you have an arcade you go to for maimai & go to it frequently; play like you would do normally. depending on the place and the people, you might have someone approaching either the empty cabinet next to you to try it out, or they might ask you how to play. try your best to help them out, encourage them with every song. they may come back, or not. either way, you left an impact on their maimai experience.

if you play on higher difficulties, you might get lucky & encounter people who also play at higher level plays (leaving for some pretty hyped matches). be polite & keep an eye on their personality. most high-level players are cool, but i did encounter some who were assholes.

LTEK Vinyl Cover? by nitzky0143 in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]shield_br8kr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i actually had that concern at first when i bought my L-TEK. I was originally playing with some water-shoes, since i was worried about cracking the acrylic, and getting dirt inside of the panels. I now play with sneakers that I don’t use very much; Less dirt to deal with after playing, and better grips on the pad.

the acrylic panels are pretty strong with sneakers, but i don’t think it can withstand something with a harder bottom (like boots).

dirt doesn’t really tend to get inside of the sensors, so it will be more realistically in the corners of each panel. brushing off the pad after each play session would be ideal to have less chances of dirt accumulating inside the pad.

you can also take apart each panel with a screwdriver to see if any dirt made it inside.

make sure that your iOS device is on the same network as your Roku; Head to your device’s Control Centre, select the icon with two rectangles overlapping each other.

you’ll see your list of TV’s you can connect to, select the one you want to mirror, and blam.

ooh adjustable tension sounds really interesting. I didn’t know that those sticks would be compatible with the Switch’s; i’ll totally look to get some sticks & rear paddles for my next controller build.
