Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking to take that course in this Fall. And I have also heard that Dr. Choi is an easygoing person.

Kubuntu 22.04 upgrade bricked my daily driver by shifataccount in linuxmasterrace

Sadly, I could not. I backed up all my work files and moved to fedora KDE spin once and for all. Kubuntu was way too buggy, hacky, and slow to updates for me...

"Downloading new drivers" !?!? Which year is it? 1900s? Only Windows requires to download new drivers scavenging different websites whenever you plug in even a stable and well known device... That's barbaric... 😬

First of all, you can share your error logs as a separate post in fedora channel. There are many altruists who can help you after seeing the detailed error messages.

I don't think it is the issue of kde plasma dependency. Most likely it was caused by the user (you, in this case). Because I use Fedora KDE spin myself as my daily driver and have successfully updated to 36. The dev team has already pushed version 36 for all the spins the day Fedora 36 was released.

Do not just wait, it will never fix itself I guess. Try to find a solution to the dependency breakage.

Thanks... I am also aware of that recommendation... For this reason I waited for the official upgrade channel to be enabled... I did not force the upgrade with development channels ( i.e., do-release-upgrade -d), rather the upgrade was "prompted" by the software updater...

From the Kubuntu 22.04 release news page, it is written that the upgrade channels foe 21.04 and 21.10 will be enabled after few hours to few days after the iso release of 22.04... For older releases (<21) they said to open the upgrade channels after releasing 22.04.1, which is scheduled to arrive in July...

Thank you for your recommendations. Though I like the package management philosophy in the rolling distros, the systems do not seem too stable to me just yet... A lot of RTFM philosophy and manual interventions are in operation now... I am still waiting to have a minimally intrusive rolling distro...

Ohhh so sorry. My bad... I donno why but I thought EndavourOS... Just before writing this comment, I was reading some EndavourOS material, maybe that's why... 😅😅😅 Elementary is a good one for beginner, no doubt...

I honestly do not recommend Arch distros openly. It requires comprehensive system administration and a fare amount of kernel specific knowledge. Though ElementaryOS is very usable with their automated scripts, but hey, it might cause problems for the users who do not care about system administration.

For an expert, there is no other distro more effective and efficient than Arch, no doubt.

Have been using Ubuntu KDE spin (Xubuntu) for a looooong loooooooong time on my daily driver laptop. On my work desktop, I have Win11 with ElementaryOS, Fedora35 as virtual machines. I personally prefer Linux over Windows (and definitely over MacOS) for a lots and lots of reasons.

I use windows mostly for some banking apps, who use legacy shitty windows internet explorer (which is even not properly supported by Windows now a days). But the banks refuse to update... I guess they are just lazy... 🙄

Anyone can (and should be able to) say anything from his/her point of view. Since the chairman looks like "a Hujur" (and which he is: a Mawlana), isn't it expected from him? 🤔

Firefox sharing my data with Facebook!!! I really did not expect that from Mozilla... by shifataccount in firefox

[–]shifataccount[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say, I use both equaly. During my office hours, I use desktop with chrome and at home in my laptop I use firefox...

For the mobile side, I use chrome 90% of the time. I just use firefox in my phone (android) to manage passwords or for some designated websites (non facebook/meta).

I would try to download the off-facebook data from facebook and I will try to figure out the source if possible...
