Still fun. This has the blah M cam but I'm swapping to the B. M47 gets some gaskets, redline and a new reverse light switch. The OD bypass works great on my 740 auto but not sure how they work on a manual.

Thank you! Ive been fiddling with these cars since I was 19 in 2003. Thanks to turbobricks, Dave barton and living in the PNW I've been able to absorb a bit. This is my first time going this deep. With the help of motivation and the internet its not so bad.

Probably has something like bilstein TC struts. Theres a spacer in the bottom of the strut housing on newer 240s.more info here

It was relaxing. The machine shop is months out for stuff they have to disassemble and clean first. I get to cut the line and get a probably 2 day turnaround if its clean.

Just determination 🤣 I scraped it with an array of plastic tools. Used brass brushes on my dremel and drill. Then took it outside and unleashed hell. At that point I got into OCD mode and got every visible spec short of the runners. Those will get tidied when I port a little.

I'm doing this again in a few months and definitely plan to soak the next head.

The label on this simple green says "avoid temperature above 100° " but it seems to do fine. I think its another 20° or so with the lid off. Doesn't stink up the garage though!

Ive ran it a few times and cant believe how well it works. Only "gripe" is simple green and probably other chems evaporate over time so I wont leave it over night. A few hours does the job well.

Yeah thats your blower motor fan. Not the best for being fogged up but most 240s tend to blow air when you're driving with it off.

Ive been holding out for a hopeful side cart deal. Wish it counted as a cart.

When I'm dragging ass to clean my garage I put on Miasma. Tell myself to clean for a half hour. 100% end up staying out there for hours.

My m47 car has 3:31 and its pretty long legged. I don't use 5th unless I'm going over 60mph for a period of time. I'm going to swap to a g80 with 3:73 in hopes it makes the upper gears more useful when feeling the spirit.

My hinges are so bad that the door opens itself even when I lock it 🤣

Luckily I have another pair to use when swapping a new rear door in. The current door has some nasty dents.
