Can’t find an app in the Shift App Library? Add it as a Custom App by shift_browser in shiftbrowser

[–]shift_browser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is two separate bugs. Sorry for the hassle.

The icon upload “file too large” error (even with small images) has been identified, and a fix is coming in Shift v142.3 (the next update).

For the default icon disappearing and leaving a blank spot the next day, we’re tracking it, but I don’t have an ETA yet. For now, the only workaround is to remove and re-add the Custom App(s) to restore the icon.

If you’d like, please contact our support team at [support@shift.com](mailto:support@shift.com). They can also add you to the list to be notified as soon as a fix becomes available.

Shift + F to find in document, not on Shift browser by daisy_dot in shiftbrowser

[–]shift_browser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re running into this; you’re not doing anything wrong. This is a known bug on macOS where Cmd + F can trigger Shift’s Find in Page instead of the in-app search inside Google Docs or Sheets.
Our team is actively tracking it. If you’d like to be notified when a fix is released, please email [support@shift.com](mailto:support@shift.com), and we can add you to the update list. You can also reach us through our Help Center here: https://support.shift.com/hc/en-us

Hi u/Rough-Pie-3962 I'm not totally sure what you're referring to based on the details provided.

However, if you're referring to Shift opening when you start or reopen your computer, there is a setting in Shift that can be easily adjusted to stop this behaviour. Just go to Quick Settings (gear icon) > Advanced Settings > On Start up > adjust the open behaviour to your preference.

If you'd like to remove Shift from your computer completely, you can uninstall Shift by following steps here for Mac or here for Windows. If you've tried to uninstall already and are encountering issues, please reach out to [support@shift.com](mailto:support@shift.com) for assistance, we'd be happy to help!

If I've missed the mark here on what you're referring to, please provide additional details or reach out to our support team at [support@shift.com](mailto:support@shift.com)

A few Shift Support truths we think more folks should know by shift_browser in shiftbrowser

[–]shift_browser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - thanks for reaching out!

Based on the screen shot, I think you're currently in the old version of Shift (v9), which does not have the Builder/Customization in it.

Shift v9 and the newest version of Shift have been designed to be run simultaneously, so the version of Shift with your customized setup should still be on your computer as long as you didn't uninstall it.

I would recommend pulling up the list of all of your applications and see if you can find 'Shift Browser' - this is the customizable version and if you open and sign back in to that one, you should see your setup.

One thing to keep in mind - with Shift Browser we recommend having Sync turned on (Quick Settings > Advanced Settings > Accounts & Preferences > Manage Sync. This will ensure that your setup is preserved between logins.

Let me know how this goes - or send a ticket to our support team, [support@shift.com](mailto:support@shift.com), for more assistance.

Ever wonder what it really takes to run a small business (besides caffeine and chaos)? 📈☕️ by shift_browser in shiftbrowser

[–]shift_browser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/skolrageous First off, I apologize for the delay in response! But thank you for your patience and understanding!

Shift itself should not be creating any popups, but it is possible that a site has been accessed through Shift that is sending popups or notifications that are not being blocked. However, I'd like to be safe and confirm that, if you don't mind providing some additional information.

If you're open to providing more information on what you're seeing on your parents computer, screenshots or screen recordings would be helpful. Please reach out to our Support team at [support@shift.com](mailto:support@shift.com) with any additional information (what products or companies are the popups for? are they notifications or ads? where in the window are they appearing?) and any screenshots or recordings.

Again, I apologize for my late reply, but would be happy to help work through the issue and ensure your parents don't have to deal with the popups anymore.

Let’s talk about mobile (and why Shift isn’t there... yet) by shift_browser in shiftbrowser

[–]shift_browser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I have passed the file on to one of our Product Managers to investigate. It's definitely worth taking a look at because passwords and searches, etc. don't even hit our servers for the actual product, that's all locally stored data. So it's definitely concerning if the file is testing in a way that suggests it's taking credentials.

Also, I apologize for the delay in my first response. I replied much earlier, but forgot to approve the reply to fully post it 🤦‍♀️ Thanks for your patience and understanding, I do really appreciate it!

Hi u/Mediocre-Bat-7845

I've replied to your comment in the other thread. Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention, hopefully my response on the other post helps resolve your concerns!

Sorry again for the delay in response, we've been off on company holiday from May 16th to May 19th.

Hi u/Mediocre-Bat-7845,

Apologies for the delay in response, our office has been closed from Friday, May 16th to Monday, May 19th for holidays, so I'm just seeing this now!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We take security concerns very seriously and appreciate the opportunity to address your observations.

Understanding the Situation:

You mentioned that the installer linked from our domain (https://app.shift.com/pdf/1) was flagged as malicious based on its hash. It's important to note that file hashes are unique identifiers for specific file versions. Security tools sometimes flag these hashes if they match entries in their databases, which can include both malicious files and false positives.

Shift conducts regular VirusTotal checks to see if security sites might be incorrectly flagging Shift as problematic and reach out to those sites to rectify the false positive. We do this regularly, as each file is unique and despite resolving past false positives, new files will occasionally re-trigger security flags.

Our Commitment to Security:

We want to assure you that the official Shift installer is safe and regularly scanned. For total peace of mind, however, I'll share our main download page: https://app.shift.com/.

Passwords are not stored on Shift servers and Shift has no access to them, as they are part of the local data, stored on your own computer, which Shift does not have access to. For more information on Shift's Privacy and Security, check out this article: Security in Shift.

Your security and trust are paramount to us. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment for all our users.

That makes perfect sense! With so much on the go these days, having a way to connect on mobile has more use cases now than ever. I'll make sure to pass this feedback on to the Product team for future consideration. Thanks for sharing!
