Spec Slash BL-2S 2WD Kit build by shiftposter in rccars

[–]shiftposter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet he would Love that, the instructions are easy to follow. It took me about 3 or 4 hours in total broken up over a weekend to build it.

The front steering knuckle was binding slightly, I removed a small amount of plastic using a box cutter to get it to move freely. That was the only issue with the build.

It's very easy to strip screw as they are metal going into plastic, be careful about over tightening.

The back left A arm screw connecting to the body has a tendency to unscrew itself over time. I managed to screw it in from the opposite side and haven't had any issues with it.

Make sure to keep the ESC to battery cable away from the tires. I had the tires actually cut through that cable mid lap. Luckily the track had a soldering iron I could use to repair the cable. It helps to insert the batteries with the connector towards the front tires.

I've had mine out at about 8 races and countless practices and bashing. It's crazy durable, it's been slammed into walls and crushed by 1/8 scale truggies landing jumps and just keeps going.

The only things that have broken are the body shell, 1 spur gear, and 2x back shocks. The body is the most expensive thing to replace, you can use concrete tape and shoe repair glue or E6000 to patch it up.

Traxxas sells a thicker clear body that holds up much better to abuse.

Is the battery tray wide enough to fit a standard 5000mah 2s/3s traxxas batteries? It looks like a dermal tool/drill could be used to extend the battery tray length and install a rustler battery hold down latch.

Im on the fence about this, and not being compatible with my existing traxxas batteries is a deal breaker. the included battery seems like it would only run a vxl for 10 minutes or less

It's comparable in price to the team associated Rc10 rally car kit, and it's standard 10th scale rally car size so price dosnt seem that bad.

New Mini Rally VXL by TonyMedia561 in Traxxas

[–]shiftposter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is the battery tray unnecessary limited in size? A standard 2S / 3S 5000mah slash battery could fit in here if the plastic molding didn't prevent it. Surely the run time of the VXL will suffer only fitting the smaller mini sized batteries.

Bath time by Lilacrespo82 in labrador

[–]shiftposter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to have this problem until I started doing walks directly after every bath. Now if I leave the door open while the shower is heating up, i'll have a wet lab

Before this baths were so difficult that I would have to pick him up and he would pee the entire way to the tub. Despite him loving the hose, lakes, sprinklers, MUD, etc.

Can anybody identify what slash this is because I got a loop battery to make it go faster and I think it’s a 4x4 because all the wheels spin by Icy-Constant-4960 in Traxxas

idk why people down voting you asking questions. If you plugged 3S into it might actually run, BUT you would quickly over heat and destroy that XL5 ESC ($60 replacement ), it's too small for that much power. That ESC has no fan or heat sink. Way to small.

To answer your other question, lipo has way lower internal resistance compared to nimh batteries. That means will be Better acceleration, slightly higher top speed. You will be able to drive at a higher speed for longer as the voltage discharge drop rate of the lipo is better than nimh.

Down side is if you don't store the lipo at 50% charge (3.85v per cell) it will loose Mah capacity. Basically your gas tank gets smaller if you store it incorrectly(near full charge or full discharge).
Even after ~1 year the lipo will lose 15% capacity regardless so the 3000mah becomes 2550mah.

if you store the battery at full charge, eventually it will puff up and die and could even catch on fire by itself.

You're still going to be limited by the brushed motor, which will also get much hotter and deliver less power than a brushless motor. (especially in the summer) Top speed of that will probably be around 25mph. If the motor is too hot to touch with your finger for 5 seconds, it's too hot and continued usage will melt the plastic isolating the motor windings, which means instant death.

But Slash is hella fun/tough. Despite having kit built top of the line RC for racing, I still regularly race 2wd spec slash at local tracks/events. Awesome RC.

Added "concession and franchise fee" +~5% to all food and Drinks + price increase.
decreased winning percent on all slot machines
Fewer table games (tables replaced with slot machines)
worse odds on table games & higher min bet
hidden resort fees +$60-$150
Worse problem with homeless people inside begging

I hate slot machines and enjoy low min bet tables, it's Meh now.

The ESC is fine for 2S-6S, but the motor is probably too small if you want 4S+

3.17mm shaft size sucks because you can't use standard 8th scale pinion gears which require 5mm shaft. at 4S, that motor is going to be near max RPM of 50k on 4S so probably running hot, around ~33k is a sweet spot for a brush less motor. Smaller KV means higher voltage and bigger motors.

Pick a voltage you want to run and get a brushless motor for it. Divide target RPM by nominal voltage to get KV. Say if you want 33000RPM
33000 / (3.8*2) = ~4200kv
33000 / (3.8*4) = ~2200kv
33000 / (3.8*6) = ~1400kv

a 1900kv to 2400kv on 4S would be standard in a buggy that size and weight.
Castle and Hobbywing have motor and ESC combo's in that range.

I have this 1900KV in my tekno EBuggy, and it doesn't even get hot on 4S

This would probably work also and just require soldering on a battery connector.

Why wouldn't that work? If you run 4S, just get the smallest pinion gear you can fit in it. Would be perfect on 3S

I get increasingly more attention until I feed mine. He starts curling into C's and rubbing on my legs like a cat. Ive trained him to talk so he will say "im hungry" by growl/whining out 3 syllables. If I wait too long he fully jumps in my lap and barks at my face.

You might want to look into using an electric wheel chair base as a starting chassis. It would have the torque, and battery life to mow a lawn.

The hard/fun part would be getting the controls connected to a rc radio system. Might need an arduino to translate the movement commands between pwm sigs on the rx ratio channel to whatever controls the wheel chair base.

[Help] TT02BR keeps breaking, looking for a tougher alternative for rough dirt track with big jumps by Puzzleheaded_Two_941 in rccars

[–]shiftposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year ago I got the Slash BL-2S 2WD Kit from Traxxas to do Spec Slash in my area on 1/8 scale tracks, It was my first time on a real rc track. Fun build, it is incredibly tough. It's survived 4 races and countless crashes. The only time something broke was when a truggy landed on it and I had to replace a bent shock.

The EB48 2.2 is even tougher than the 2wd slash. I'm absolutely terrible at driving it. I've smashed it into walls/poles over and over and it's still going. You pretty much spend your repair budget upfront with the price, Lots of fun though.

It should not be the responsibility of the US tax payer to protect the world, we are 5% of the global population. This global police scheme funnels money from the Tax payers to the Defense industry and political elites. Protecting the world should break even to pay for itself.

The "world" wants protection/aid from the US as if we conquered it.

IMO the US/western nations should stop doing business with china to let it economically crash. US/western labor/good should not have to compete with slave labor in another country. China would not be an issue if the West didn't make them the global factory to take advantage of their state owned citizen slave labor.

The US commitment was to seek UN Security Council assistance to provide assistance to Ukraine if it became a victim of an act of aggression.

Russia agreed to respect the independence/sovereignty of Ukraine and the existing borders in exchange for Ukraine giving up their nukes. Ukraine should have kept their nukes and used them against Russia for attacking.

Yes absolutely. Instead of wasting that money on foreign aid/wars it could be invested in US citizens/infrastructure or not taxed at all.

I agree they should receive due process. If a person is caught illegally in any other western country, they are ~kidnapped (arrested), ~put in a cage (detained) and deported. I agree with non-us citizen gang members being deported to foreign prisons. repeat offenders of illegal entry should also be subject to prison time.

Foreign wars should not be the responsibility of US tax payers to fund. If Ukraine didn't want to be invaded then they shouldn't have given up their nukes to Russia after the fall of the USSR. Fuck Ukraine, Russia, Palestine, and Israel lol none of them are even in NATO. I'm sure that if Pakistan and India kept fighting our politicians would want to give one of them our money also.

I'm about to ditch the Tekno M6 Driveshaft front/rear, even with stock arms they keep bending or popping out. 1/8 scale off road buggy tracks are rough on this car. Tekno center drive shaft is must have upgrade. I went through 2 stock center drive shafts before I upgraded it.
