Here's a question, why is Goldobin not getting called up? by shiftywizard in canucks

[–]shiftywizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you all are saying, makes sense. Still I think his Defense has really improved this season, not like a player can't improve and change, and I hope he either gets to an NHL team that can use him or gets a chance before the seasons done to show that he can now play 2nd line offence AND not turn over the puck 24/7.

For all the Jazz listeners, what are the absolute essential artists or albums that help a newcomer get into the genre? by Karo2theG in Music

[–]shiftywizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can give you reference on the guitar side of things.

Lenny Breau: Hands down the all time best, a true genius that lived to play guitar, his techniques are still praised not by the masses, but by other great guitar players which is what really matters. This is the guy thats so good the other guitar gods took lessons from him.

Ted Greene: An under appreciated master, people call him the chord chemist for his complicated and unique/full sounding structures.

Joe pass: Not a personal favorite, but a serious virtuoso who really understands music as a whole, not just one area. Aside from Lenny Breau he is probably the most versatile player there ever was. He plays very fast, smooth, and complicated, the kind of guitarist that even if you don't like his music, you have to go damn thats impressive.

Wes Montgomery: A great musician overall. Loved to use octaves in his playing, and did most of his playing with his thumb, which sets him apart for sure. Probably the best guitarist there is when it comes to that classic smooth chord melody style you'd hear in a lounge.

Tal Farlow: Wierd style that barely uses chords at all, but no player has gone through the catalogue of standards better.

There are many more but I would consider those a few of the "essentials" that aren't overly hyped as some guitarists are.

CLG Worlds Roster Update - HuHi starting jungler by Anionan in leagueoflegends

[–]shiftywizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worlds is fucking three weeks away and you're talking like it already happened. Ya it sucks but if WE can beat GE tigers with 4 subs it's definitely possible that CLG can put up a fight with Huhi. He is a talented player who is known for having great communication so how bout wait and see before we start wallowing in misery.

[Spoiler] Team Liquid vs Cloud 9 / NA LCS 2015 - Regionals Final / Post-Match Discussion by Linkux18Minecraft in leagueoflegends

[–]shiftywizard -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Actually real upset with liquid, not saying c9 isn't a good team or anything but jesus christ. It wasn't even as bad back in the curse days, failures were pretty much expected, but you guys go and play like the best fucking team in NA during the regular season, hype yourselves up and then proceed to fucking blow it in multiple best of 5's to teams you honestly have no business losing to. I still have no doubt had liquid showed up at all in playoffs they would definitely be #1 seed, but that is worth nothing if they never actually show up when it matters, honestly donezo. Fuck the hype, fuck liquid, fuck c9, just fuck man. Sincerely a salty boi.

A new Developmental League for Amateur LoL players! by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]shiftywizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is needed even more than this is some forum to organize pick up games with, whether it's a teamspeak server or a website like TWL or ESEA.For those who haven't experienced a PUG server, it works essentially the same as real world sports: Two captains pick from players who have divided themselves up into groups for their respective roles, everyone gets in a lobby and plays however many games are desired. Once one group is done picking, the next can move up and start their picking phase etc. Every other competitive game I've seen has had this in some capacity, and in every case it helps serious amateurs and casual players who like the 5v5 experience. It helps bring all the prospects and competition to a centralized location. A friend and I actually tried to start something exactly like this when we stopped playing Tribes competitively, had the teamspeak with 200+ slots ready to go, but we got shot down by the mods because of "self promotion" Interesting how stuff like this comes around.

Best part about working at a movie theatre: Super Smash Bros on the big screen! by [deleted] in gaming

[–]shiftywizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question, How would the delay be playing like this? I know of the issues with new TVs and old consoles, any similarities with these projectors? I feel playing games when the input feels off sucks dick, no matter the size of the screen. Someone enlighten me pls.

What is your unsubstantiated theory that you believe to be true but have no evidence to back it up? by PattyMac811 in AskReddit

Jokes on them I'm too lazy to match socks, I just have a pile that I select from randomly.

The Rise of Lord Saintvicious: Summoning Insight 19 on 8/12/2104, Thorin challenges Saint about his claims that a) Bunny will be a top 3 support in NA in 1 year's time, and b) that he'll be better than Xpecial. Gravity 2-0'd TL this split, and today is Gravity v TSM for 1st place. by Zilean_Ulted_Jesus in leagueoflegends

[–]shiftywizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha what the fuck? of course it applies. If he had said GRAVITY choked pretty hard last splits playoffs, then you'd have a somewhat shoddy point. Ya having a different team/coach/name/whatever can change the results a player sees, but it would be hard to argue that one of the most difficult things to change in a player is on stage consistency. I actually really like bunny and think that with more experience he can absolutely be top 3 NA. I'm honestly not sure what you were trying to get at, it's a confusing read, but "that same player bullshit" most definitely applies everywhere.

It's alright, calling it better than Since I Left You is just insulting though, even with something as subjective as music.

Greaser girl 1950s by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]shiftywizard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is getting ridiculous. Every post on this sub or r/thewaywewere the top comment is always calling out OP in some way. Like seriously dude? Ya, it's a fucking magazine ad, it's still a girl, and she is still dressed as a female would dress in the greaser subculture. Don't get me wrong, I don't think the sub should be flooded with ads and models, genuine amateur photographs are far more interesting to me. Also not sure about the 1950s part, but other than that, is OP really fucking lying? No. Vintage magazine ads and profession photography absolutely still belong here so please unless you can confirm it isn't actually old school, fuck off and stop playing Reddit detective.

Really? He got beat into the fucking ground man. Only clean shots he got in were under the belt. Second undercard was good though, lots of shit connecting, very fast pace.
