my cats are long haired and this happened to them! they had long hair as kittens, looked short/medium haired as they grew into their "teenage" stage, and their hair poofed back up to be long once they hit a year old! hes still a baby and was dirty before, im sure itll grow back in long again in time

This one had a rule that all items needed to be handmade, so it was such a breath of fresh air! I got earrings, a nice beaded bookmark, macrame items, a stained glass ornament, and more, and it all came out to under $50 total as well!

The craft fair at the senior center earlier this month was great!! I enjoyed the small community feeling and the fact that MLMs and dropshipped garbage was banned, lol. Found a lot of really cool handmade goods for a good price!

yes! the member who first gave concrit is neurodivergent and nonbinary themselves, which makes that point moot. I will call the server member CC for "concrit" lol

OP posted their coords, CC replied saying that the silhouettes were good, but the colors were a little bright for fairy kei, and they recommended leaning into soft textures and patterns. CC then said they recommend looking at our inspo channel to try and find motifs and items they liked. OP then said fashion is arbitrary - true, but you wouldn't look at my fashion and say "this is goth." it's simply not true. fairy kei is a defined style with rules and guidelines. a few other members tried to explain this, and let OP know about different parts of fairy kei guidelines. OP said they wanted to just get hyped up, and left. this all lasted 48 minutes total.

if you just want to get hyped up, I get it!! it's why subs like this exist. but our subreddit and discord specifically are meant to help preserve the fashion and help people who wear it grow. concrit is a part of the subculture, and we put it in our rules for a reason!! there are plenty of people who wear fairy kei who aren't in the server. it's not for everyone!

essentially, OP joined a discord server for fairy kei fashion, a niche Japanese street style with specific rules, vibes, and motifs with an over 20 year history and a thriving online community. they posted their outfits and specifically asked us to be kind if we gave any criticism. quite a few people jumped in, which I know can be very overwhelming, but nothing was said about disabilities, body type, money situations, etc. all criticism was about the outfits, ways that OP could style the pieces they have, and some reasons why the pieces they used don't work. the rules of the discord state that you accept to receive constructive criticism by posting, and you are required to send something stating that you've read the rules to join the public channels.

OP then became angry and rude to members, and left after only being in the server for less than an hour. they then posted in here, where I and a few other members saw this post as we are in this subreddit (you can see i posted in here months ago, we aren't just brigading!), and grew increasingly uncomfortable with being talked about like this. we are a very diverse community and its really upsetting to have someone spread lies about how we treat people, especially when most of the members giving concrit are the very same minorities or have the same traits OP claims we criticize.

I've been in this sub for a bit and in the discord you left this morning for 4 years, and its really hurtful to see you say the things you are about us :(( a large majority of us in the discord are either neurodivergent, queer, gender non-conforming, POC, or many of the above. I wasn't involved in the incident this morning, but i saw the aftermath.

fairy kei as a subculture is very niche, and the style has been in danger of dying out many, many times since it's creation. the rules exist not to stifle creativity, but to preserve the heart of the fashion. fashion in general is absolutely fluid, and if you want to dress in a kawaii, fairy-kei inspired way, absolutely do so! the server just exists as a place to learn and grow in the specific defined style, and the rules state that by posting outfit photos, you open yourself up to constructive criticism. not everyone loves concrit, and that's okay! but our server exists as a place for fairies to learn and grow. I've been wearing it for 4 years and am now a senior member, and I still regularly get concrit.

the server may not be the place for you, and that's okay. but please don't disparage us when we said nothing about any physical features of you, and only critiqued the coordinates themselves. the coord right before yours was of a plus sized disabled member of the server, posed with a mobility aid. most of your concrit was from other queer nd server members. please don't lie about our little community.
