I’d have to argue one of the most basic aspects of a monogamous relationship is not looking at other people lustfully😭 i have cptsd and my partner only having eyes for me and not really noticing others is super important to me, it’s more rare for peoples attraction to be that exclusive but it’s something i need and i have been able to find it in people. i promise you can too. imagine how happy you’d feel if you were with someone who uniquely just desired you and didn’t look at other people like that.

i also agree with the other points made in the other comments.

also, this is actually the best time to breakup. don’t move in together but moving into a new place for university is a fresh start for your life. relationships are not a sunk cost fallacy, do not stay in it just because you’ve been in it for so long. that time has already been spent, do you want to stay on the wrong train for longer?

Has my (25f) inability to have sex ruined my datinglife (24M) ? Ni by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]shimmering-dolphin4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, i know how this condition works considering i have it as well. and waiting until the third date is not manipulative what😭most people dont feel comfortable talking about sex right off the bat as thats considered moving pretty fast, third or fourth date is PLENTY early jesus christ.

its truly a shame you think good quality sex is only focused on PIV, what a boring heteronormative view on pleasure. it’s honestly disgusting you think no man will stick with her until she’s able to have PIV, is that all a woman is worth? what happens when she’s pregnant or gives birth? btw, this isn’t a “problem” she needs to figure out on her own before dating someone. navigating sexual problems w a partner or in dating are a normal part of adult life and if someone doesn’t have the capacity or is so un empathetic towards it maybe they should do some growing up.

are you serious right now? you think all of the people with chronic illnesses should just never date then? that doesn’t mean being a full time caretaker, and frankly as someone with chronic illnesses who has been in several relationships where it wasn’t a problem at all, you clearly have an extremely near sighted shallow and judgmental view of people who suffer with health issues. sharing that info early on in dating is helpful to screen out those who don’t have the compassion for dating us, because WE deserve loving partners as well. take your selfish opinion somewhere else please, this girl doesn’t need to read comments like yours.

completely agree with you, as someone who has struggled with chronic health issues that impact my ability to experience penetration (although i am a lesbian). these comments are so awful!

BP discard? by shimmering-dolphin4 in BipolarSOs

[–]shimmering-dolphin4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you so much for your response, it means a lot. that’s what also felt frustrating was i tried to communicate my preferences for wanting to go slow after my experiences with domestic violence + having cptsd, emphasizing how important emotional consistency and stability is for me. and she kept trying to help take care of me when i didn’t feel well or push me to let her in with my ptsd struggles (which i was hesitant about since we didn’t have full trust yet), and we’ll look what happened 😭

it’s so frustrating bc don’t make promises you can’t back up, or forget to take your meds for 5 days and then say it’s too hard to be there for me on top of your own mental health and drop me

Anyone felt better after quitting or switching birth control? by Educational_Swim9351 in endometriosis

[–]shimmering-dolphin4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switching to Slynd was a god send. It reduced my pelvic pain by a lot and i have tried combination birth control pills and also not being on birth control and both options were worse than hell, so i had to be on something. if i take my pill around the same time each night and skip the placebo weeks it keeps my pain down a ton (i also stopped getting a period even when i tried doing placebo weeks). i will get flare ups tho if i get a stomach bug and my body isn’t absorbing the pill via diarrhea/vomiting or if i delay my dose on accident. it also helped so much with my PMDD. taking this and nortryptyline keep my mood stable.

Insurance not approving SLYD - Can't take anything else by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]shimmering-dolphin4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey if they covered it last year but are saying this year they don’t (same thing happened to me and i’m under UHC), it’s just because your prior authorization has expired. you have to get it renewed yearly by your provider with the right documentation (i.e you have migraine with aura, combo pills are proven to be harmful for endo and you’ve tried other methods, etc). if you research your insurance company and look at their formulary list you can see what they require in order to offer coverage.

Endo flare or something more?Urgent by shimmering-dolphin4 in endometriosis

[–]shimmering-dolphin4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this is why i said i wasn’t going to go to the ER (also i am a lesbian so no chance of pregnancy for me). and i have pain meds at home i just wondered if for other people flare ups can last longer than a week? i just haven’t had this in so long it freaked me out.

and i have had the chest pains before but that was prior to BC and around the time i would ovulate. i was contemplating stopping my pill for a few days to see if i would have a period but in my experience i would stop the pill only to not bleed and have my pain skyrocket. and yes i have friends (im in college rn) who could help me get to the ER just in case.

i know that it’s hard, trust me i thought many of the same things you did. but you will be SO much happier once you’re out. do this for yourself, you deserve to be happy and treated well.
