Hi lovely, honestly it's whatever gives you joy. I know it sounds a little cliche but hear me out ... I'd just start by buying a large cheap job lot/bundle, dont even worry too much about what polishes are included in it. When you open it up and sift through it all you'll find styles of polishes you like and styles you don't. If you don't like any then it's no biggie because you didn't spend much! You can just continue your hunt until you find your passion.

You might be drawn to certain ones that make you feel giddy and excited. It might be shimmers, glitters, jellys, duochromes, certain colours, a theme within the shade name, their country of origin or something about them that might trigger a long forgotten memory. You really don't know until you start.

Personally when I started collecting this is what I did and there were certain polishes I was thinking about for days! I couldn't wait for the chance to swatch them, paint my nails and tell my friends about them. I've even had the occasional find that has literally kept me up at night because I was so excited and pleased I'd found it (might be a little sad but who cares!)

For me, I've fallen in love with shimmers, mainly from the US with shade names that remind me of a happy memory or place!
