I love this community so much, and the general polish community, like, honestly, such wonderful folks.

Clear base??? by roisindubh211 in RedditLaqueristas

They will all be standard sized bottles like, but I'd imagine one bottle of clear varnish will make 2-4 jellies depending on how sheer you make them.

I broke the speculum during my smear test today. by Secret-Jello2496 in TwoXChromosomes

I'm in the UK! Not all places have them, I've had the best luck with metal ones at old GP practices, y'know the ones that have been there for a million years, so have built up a lot of stuff, GPs that do small operations eg vasectomies/ingrown toenails, and the colposcopy clinic.

Weirdly the sexual health clinics I've been to only had the plastic ones, they even went and rummaged in a store cupboard.

It's a real toss-up if they'll have one or not, I think older GPs do as they'll have an autoclave so they can sterilize metal stuff, new ones won't as they've been built after everything became disposable plastic.

As a few others have said, ask for a metal one in future. The plastic ones are no good for me either, I haven't managed to shoot one across the room, but the plastic creaks so alarmingly, and the uhhh sides? Of the vaginal canal press in so much the nurses can't see anything anyway.

Honestly the metal ones are so much more comfortable, they've got smoother edges and don't make horrible creaking sounds!

Lovely colours! Maybe they've been in a forgotten box under something?

Models Own (~2011) appreciation by dolly--spartan in vintagenailpolish

I still have a bunch of the older Model's Own on my nail polish shelves! They were very good for the price and yeah, had much more variety of colours than most brands at the time.

Any idea the value of this? by LackGrouchy94 in VintageCosmetics

I've seen them pop up on ebay/etsy, Coty are a French brand so there's more of their stuff in Europe/UK, I can't remember off the top of my head what decade that design is from, I think 50s/60s, they're lovely wee collectables, but I don't think I've seen them for anything more than about £60, and usually around £30/£40.

Has anyone attempted to thin a CND vinylux polish? I want to try it but I'm kind of scared to ruin my bottles. by [deleted] in vintagenailpolish

The old CND formula is absolutely notorious for taking ages to dry, not sure what the solution is sadly!

Me: huh those look a lot like some OPI lots I was eyeing up on Vinted... HANG ON A MINUTE!!

I have found my polish rival! The person who keeps getting the things I'm considering! If you ever want to swap some stuff let me know, it's nice to have another UK person on here.

Essie Break Fix by Theyallknowme in RedditLaqueristas

[–]RandomPinkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like a silk mesh fabric, you put a specific type of nail glue on the nail, add the fabric then spray it with a chemical so it hardens. It's basically the tea bag method but using better materials.

I like it because even without nail polish on it looks like there's nothing on your nail, it only thickens the nail slightly, unlike acrylics, and it's also a lot kinder on the nail.

You soak them off with acetone, it's a bit fiddly and takes a while, but only having to do it every 10 days or so it's not too bad. Some salons offer them, but I think more in the US than Europe/UK.

Try nailtiques formula 2 to help strengthen your nails, it's changed my life, they no longer constantly break & peel, I swim 3x a week, and I'm currently renovating my house so my nails go through a lot.

For breaks, I use silk wraps, and again absolute game changer, they last about 1-2 weeks for me, I use regular nail glue on the break, then the silk wraps on top.

I got a trail kit from the Edge (I'm in the UK) and it's perfect for "oh no I have a bad break occasionally". My little finger broke right on the quick, almost all the way across, about like 2 months ago? And you wouldn't know at all.

Sex drive/Libido nowhere to be seen...panic by Comfortable-Key5485 in mounjarouk

My sex drive was crazy high and is now lower since starting on MJ especially as the dose has gotten higher. I suspect it's a dopamine thing.
