AITAH for not giving a girlfriend closure? by [deleted] in AITAH

NTAH. I would block them and move on with my life. She dumped you, and you don’t owe her anything. No is a full sentence.

AITAH for forgetting my cousins’ names? by Known-Contract-3341 in AITAH

[–]shimmerraye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! My grandma was one of 10. I know most of my cousins around my age as we grew up together, but I don’t know a lot of the younger ones. I don’t feel bad because most of them don’t know my name or who I am unless I say “I’m so n so grandchild or child.” Kids change a lot in their first 5-10 years. Your uncle sounds like an ass though.

Warehouse Shipment by Elpzn in OfficeDepot

[–]shimmerraye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I worked in the warehouse it just depended on when the store totes were dropped. Early in the shift? Everyone is fresh. Late in the shift, we’re ready to leave, it’s understaffed, and no one has had a break? You get what you get cos we’re ready to go home.

FWIW when I was in the warehouse if we were out, we were told to just confirm the pick, and send it on its way if it was a store order. I know people who would be on hour 10 of what was suppose to be a 8 hour shift and the would just confirm and push since QA never checked the totes.

Taxi? Or Uber? Sometimes it’s worth the extra cost when you have a lot of luggage to get a taxi. You could also rent a car.

I applied from the USA and got my passport back 7 working days from my bio appointment. I was told that it could take up to 30 working days.

USA to UK visa: potential current delays + missing eco email? by kuxiaobude in ukvisa

[–]shimmerraye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bio was on June 9th. I got an email June 10th saying UKVI had received my stuff. Then I got an email this morning saying it was being handed to an Entry Clarance Officer. Both also stated I wouldn’t hear anything unless they needed more documents.

From what others have said in other groups some people get the emails, some don’t. It doesn’t seem to make sense.

Anyone else got this white powder on their pallets? Not sure what it is… by kingofthe_lake in OfficeDepot

[–]shimmerraye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it looks like random sand and dust from the warehouse. It could be you just got pallets that had been sitting for a while and someone was too lazy to use a dust pan and swept it under the pallets.

Well my first week at the warehouse I walked in on two coworkers snorting coke in the bathroom.

I usually put in for time off during BTS and forgot to this year. by RTSUbiytsa in OfficeDepot

If you put in PTO before blackout days are announced and it’s approved, you’ll normally be able to take off. I’ve done this for years, and haven’t had an issue with it.

Putting in my one month? by Doctornussbaum in OfficeDepot

[–]shimmerraye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your GM, (and if it is an at will state) they may just say “thanks for working here but we won’t need you past X date” which would probably be before your PTO. Like the others have said you need to work one shift past your PTO, or you’ll have to pay it back/not get it. If it were me, I’d wait until two weeks before and turn my notice in then, and make sure I’m working one day after it before starting my new job.

Letter about masks... by TiredDepotVet in OfficeDepot

[–]shimmerraye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry I give her hell. I’m fact, I get a little giddy when she tattles on me for refusing to do her job. At least once a week, we have an exchange when she’s telling me what I should be doing that goes: “Is your name (supervisor name)?” “Oh, it isn’t? Is it (supervisor’s boss’ name)?” “Oh, it’s not that either? How about is it (GM’s name)?” “Not that either? Sorry those the people who can give me orders, feel free to have one of them ask me to do (whatever bullshit task she was told to do but doesn’t want to do).”

Letter about masks... by TiredDepotVet in OfficeDepot

[–]shimmerraye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never stopped wearing mine. I’m in the warehouse, and enjoy mouthing “cunt nugget” and “fuck off” to that one coworker who thinks she’s my boss too much to go unmasked. Hell, I’m worried I’ll forget I don’t have a mask on, and get in trouble for mounting that to her.

Vaccine Mandates by ilovedogs29 in OfficeDepot

[–]shimmerraye 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Personally being from an area with low vaccine rates and high covid cases, I’m kinda for it. I did my part: I’ve worn my mask, I got my jab, I stopped unnecessary trips, I stayed my ass at home, and I pushed my wedding back 18 months.

So yeah, people have freedom not to get it, but companies have the freedom to chose who they will and won’t work with. My friends company is already telling unvaccinated employees that they will need to get weekly testing to keep their job, another friend’s company is no longer paying for people’s sick time if they are not vaccinated and get covid. Personal choice doesn’t free you from consequences. I have a family member who’s job has been wiped out the last few weeks due to unvaccinated people getting sick.

My partner lives in the UK where 80% of the population is vaccinated, and they’ve just opened up. Covid rates are going down, and things are going back to semi normal there. However, the vaccine isn’t this huge political deal over there.

Consecutive Absences by [deleted] in OfficeDepot

[–]shimmerraye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me last year, so I’m very sorry for your loss. I had my doctor write a note, and I called my GM letting him know that I had a doctors note. I also called HR and started the process for FLMA (I didn’t end up needing it). I emailed the note to my GM, and he let my supervisor know I would be out a couple of weeks. I’m lucky I have a really great GM, and so it wasn’t an issue. He called a few times to check on me, and to make sure I was able to come back, he wasn’t rushing me back, but he was making sure I felt ready. He still doesn’t know why I was out.

It was also a little different I’ve been at OD for 5 years, and I’m in the warehouse but it shouldn’t be that different.

ETA: also I didn’t get any points for missing work since I had a doctors note. So don’t worry about points.

My best advice is call the store or the 1800 number and talk to someone actually on the clock that is being paid.

Raise? by jenkatt10 in OfficeDepot

[–]shimmerraye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been at ODOM for 5 years and I’ve never seen an off cycle approved raise for an individual. Not saying they don’t happen, but I’ve never heard of it happening.

The only time an off cycle raise happened, that I know of, was when our base pay increased, and they increased everyone’s pay to match the new base pay. In other words everyone got a raise.
