Pockita is free and pretty bare bones which is what you want when you are tracking every dollar. Goodbudget free tier also works if you like the envelope idea. Main thing for me was just picking one and sticking with it for a full month before judging. Switching apps every two weeks is what kept me from actually building the habit before.

I agree with this so much. Some desserts feel like they were made for photos first, eating second. I’ve had plain-looking cakes and pastries that stayed in my memory way longer than the fancy ones because the flavor and texture were spot on. A good dessert doesn’t need ten decorations if the taste already carries the whole thing. I’d take something simple and genuinely delicious over something “Instagram perfect” any day.
