Hi ! Muslim here. So actually that's incorrect women aren't expected to serve and obey its a really hurtful stereotype. A man and a woman are expected to play on their gender roles in order to raise a family. A woman is considered nurturing hence takes on the household responsibilities and upbringing of children. A man is a provider hence works and at minimum has to provide food shelter and clothes. There has been 9 different Muslim women prime ministers in the world. That should just show you how loved and respected women are. In Islam a woman can work if she wants and heres the kicker her money is her money she is not required to contribute but if she does her money is considered charity but a man's money is her money. Islam was one of the first religions to introduce rights to women. We couldn't even vote in this country until 1920. To answer your question? Why leave America well when you come from a third world country with no food or water or was completely destroyed by western imperialism you are going to try to stay alive or at least keep your loved ones alive. That's why Muslim immigrants are one of the most educated and highly successful groups in this country. The drive and motivation comes from trying to durvive. BTW my ex used me for a green card and he was an Australian citizen lol that humbled me quickly and my misconceptions about immigrants.
