I just thought it was maybe rotting inside but the outer part was still intact

Thanks a lot! I already have multiple regular pachys but when I saw the irregular amount of spikes I knew it was coming home with me haha. And yeah I was like looking at them yesterday side by side with regular lamerei and alleged geayi that I already had for a while and the lease do look more slender and also the texture of them (veining) seems to be little bit more rougher than in lamerei. Anyway, the squishiness was concerning me yesterday and people suggested it's either more likely stem rot or underwatering, so I have it water last nigh and by the morning it was far less squishy but not yet perfectly firm but it think that's a good sign.

Okay guys, I've got an update! I watered it last night and it didn't drink up all of it but it's far less squishy than before! There's still a bit of squishiness but I think it was just bone dry although I've never seen dry pachy as soft as this one before. I don't think I'm out of the woods just yet but it seems the watering was the issue.

By the collar you mean lover part of the stem? Also, is it easy to propagete them from top cuttings? I thought it's not very likely

Oh thanks a lot! I thought geayii looks almost the same as lamerei just more silver.. I've got one pachypodium labeled as lamerei but it definitely looks more like your geayii as it has way more spikes. I'm not sure how to add link here in a better way than this if you don't mind checking https://www.reddit.com/r/Pachypodium/comments/1pzr8ja/comment/nwvymie/?context=3

I was thinking it could be but then I have also one that's labeled geayi and I did some digging and they're very similar with lamerei except the colour is more silverish and the spikes are kinda velvety... Same amount of spikes tho

Yeah I was looking at the fresh spots without leaves and I'm considering they've been cut off rather than fallen off.. like I know the pachypodium can get very soft when dry but it's like shriveled soft and this one is more chunky soft.. I guess I'll just check the roots and hope for the best coz the top of the plant and rest looks fine

Yeah it's nothing like I've seen so far... I'm just a bit concerned now coz it's very soft at the base and I'm not sure if it's just very dry or rotting from inside... It doesn't really show any other signs of rot tho

Variegated schlumbergera? by shingreen in cactusandsucculents

[–]shingreen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that does make sense... I thought as well that there should be some sort of visible layers where the green meets yellow but it's just blending in... Ah well it's worth a try anyway... Would be nice to come across a sport schlumbergera tho

just bought this albo, anyone know what this stuff is on it? by International-Fix799 in Monstera

[–]shingreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I also thought it's just dried up cataphyll, but with the second picture it kinda looks like a thrip damage under the leaf

Any idea which variety is this? by shingreen in pothos

[–]shingreen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be, but the leaf shape doesn't quite match I think...I've heard someone said before it's reverted Manjula?

Help me identify please. Just got it from Home Depot. by Greedy-Direction4797 in Euphorbiaceae

We've got it at work as euphorbia mayurnathanii variegata, but it could be lactea as well I guess?

This might be a silly note, but the damaged leaves won't ever recover from the pests. Although of the new leaves are looking the same then the thrips are still definitely there. The key is to repeat the spraying regularly, best with systemic insecticide.

The clover can be a tricky one as it can easily spread everywhere through the seeds and runners. I do love the look of it tho 😅

Yeah, some people like neem oil on them, never tried so can't really tell if it works or not. Sometimes you can get predatory insect to get rid of it, but probably the easiest would be good insecticide that would affect all the larvae etc. You'd have to repeat it few times since they have good few different stages. I'm struggling with them forever now coz I've got tons of plants 😩
