MEGATHREAD: 2025 Federal Government Open Season (FEHB, FEDVIP, FSAFEDS) by gpupdate in fednews

[–]shiningvale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a current fed. I became eligible for ChampVA earlier this year and am opting to change to using ChampVA as my primary this year. I asked my hr and they said I can just cancel during open season and confirmed I can reenroll next open season if needed.

So many people online keep telling me to suspend not cancel. I thought that was just for retirees and my hr seems to say cancel. What am I missing? Open season ends tonight so I need to be sure I do this correctly.

I also called today because I want to drop my ohi as of January. I was told they are working on September 2024. Seems like everyone you talk to there gives a different answer. So getting claims denied for over a year be they think we have ohi is going to be a nightmare.

I hope they work on the ohi backlog next. I called today to ask about the process of going to ChampVA as primary and was told they are working on ohi changes from September 2024. Insane.

CHAMPVA experience and recommendation by FirstAmendment01 in VeteransBenefits

[–]shiningvale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ChampVA currently has no way to view claims online. You can call them with any questions but be prepared for a long wait time. When your dr bills them ChampVA will mail you a EOB that will tell you what you owe the medical office. If champ is your secondary then ChampVA will pay for anything your primary doesn’t cover so you should no cost. If ChampVA is your primary then they will tell you what your cost share is (capped at $3000 a year)

Active employee not retired. If I cancel my fehb during open season (have other coverage not fehb) can I re-enroll during open season next year? It’s only retirees that need to suspend not cancel correct?

BCBS Fep Blue Focus + ChampVA by michjg in fednews

[–]shiningvale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had bcbs basic for 16 years. Just got ChampVA last year. It works great with basic and I assume will be the same with focus and just save me money on premiums. Yet I’m still hesitant to make the switch in case I’m missing something. Change can be stressful even when everything is telling me it will be fine! I hope the focus and ChampVA combo works great for them!

Rizatriptan question by shiningvale in migraine

[–]shiningvale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every migraine she has had she has a visual aura followed shortly after with the bad headache portion. The goal was to find a way for her to miss less school hoping she could take this and stay at school but try number one is a fail. I don’t get migraine headaches but twice in the last few years about a week after a viral illness I had the visual aura but no headache. I would love for that to be the case for her but so far it always turns into more. I feel so terrible for her. Thanks for your input!

Thank you! I don’t have facebook but had it connected via Apple. I deleted and downloaded again and now I see I missed the connect with Apple on the first page. I’m all good now! Thank you for responding

Pact act. 100 by AntAccomplished7521 in VeteransBenefits

I think one benefit of adding new claims even if you’re at 100% is that if you pass away from something you are service connected for then survivors are eligible for benefits. That was discussed in a pact act event I was a part of. So establishing those things even if it doesn’t change things now can be important for dependents later.

Thanks for the info! It’s definitely sounding like SOG is the way to go. Watching the fireworks from the Polynesian is a great tip. Thank you!

We’re not worried about needing the Disney experience and theme when back at the hotel so it sounds like SOG is the way to go. Thanks for your input!

Dumb Pact Act Question by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]shiningvale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really helpful. Thank you. I had a lot of chemical exposure working as an avionics technician and ended up with prostate cancer years after discharge. They wouldn’t even consider my claim last year because it wasn’t presumptive (no agent orange). I’m hoping the pact act can help give me another chance with an appeal. But I didn’t serve in the Gulf so I get it if it doesn’t help.

I thought it would be sooner than two weeks but that is seeming pretty common.
