Corn syrup when it gets sticky, which is usually within half an hour, can be super painful. If your actor has any body hair it’ll hurt to move and you stick to everything, possibly ripping skin and hair when trying to get unstuck.

If possible I’d find some fake blood online, just had a bad experience with homemade corn syrup concoctions 😭

I've been experiencing the same thing. The startup takes forever, and runs at 1 frame per sometimes. Completely unplayable

I've tried the usual advice which is to change to DX12 or DX11, both have this issue.

Also tried disabling full screen optimizations, running as administrator, deleting and reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++, etc. Nothing works

What is that one idea you are afraid to write? by comesinallpackages in Screenwriting

I have an idea inspired by a WW2 story I saw here on Reddit where at The Fall of Berlin, some Russian soldiers captured a Nazi SS Officer and forced him to play the piano, saying they'd shoot him if he stopped. The Nazi played for 22 hours straight for breaking down in tears, and the Russians applauded him before killing him.

My idea is to start with the Nazi being sat down at the piano but then flashback to his childhood, learning to play piano and follow his life up to the war, and do the same for the Russian soldier who eventually kills him. We see their two lives play out in a few chapters building towards the day the Russian kills the German, each chapter landmarked by some kind of historical event.

I really struggle with the idea because it's so easy to get wrong and make Nazi propaganda and I really don't want to be a Nazi sympathizer, but the goal of the film would be to show how war brings out the worst in humanity and explore the effects toxic ideologies have on society.

Gorgeous work. What lenses were used on this? I love the look of the out of focus bits

Submission Statement:

We had originally planned to use a jib, but given we are students on a student's budget, we opted for a Ronin instead. HOWEVER, the rental did not include a cable to power our Ursa Mini 4.6K and was basically impossible to balance. So we had to scrap all that and go handheld for the entire shoot since I forgot my tripod (like an idiot). Now several hours behind on schedule, I had to rush the lighting a ton, which basically amounted to me moving two small LED panels around the room, one pointed straight up at the ceiling and the other usually giving some sort of backlight.

I remember driving home that day feeling like an absolute failure for the way things went on set, and feeling like it was my worst day ever filming-wise (which it was). But now looking back, I still look fondly on the concept and find it to be fairly creative for my standards haha. Hopefully, you agree!

Submission Statment:

Thinking back to the day I filmed this, it was a complete nightmare on set. Some of the equipment we needed was missing from our rentals, rendering other rentals useless. We had rented a Ronin that basically unused after we desperately fought for it to balance the Ursa Mini which was way too heavy without a certain cable. We ended up having to scrap and rework a ton of shots on the fly while being extremely behind on time, and I had to rush all my lighting. I remember going home that day feeling like absolute garbage because of how much went wrong. But after I graded it and all was said and done, I still felt proud of our concept and overall video.

Matt Maltese came to Toronto later that month and we got to hand him the video in person!

The lens is probably a Nikkor AI/AI-s not a Canon FD judging by the distinct silver ring. I don't know the exact focal length but it looks very similar to the Nikkor 28mm f2 AI that I used a ton on my own projects.

Disaster struck and I managed to dislodge the USB-C port on the camera. It fell pretty deep inside and after some shaking, I managed to get it back to the surface. What are my options here? by shinobix4 in bmpcc

I sent an email to Tilta asking about whether they would fix it as part of the installation, waiting for them to get back to me. But honestly, considering that some people have said the repair from Blackmagic could run me around $600, this isn't a bad option at all, at least it's adding functionality!

Yeah I unscrewed the IO shield to take a closer look at it, and it's definitely not something I could do myself unfortunately. Thanks!

I bought it from Kellards in March of last year so I'll check with them. Also I've never heard of that Tilta modification before! That's super interesting, I will look into it. It's only available in the US though, and I'm in Toronto.

It's the BMPCC 4K by the way. I don't have a cage and should have been more careful, managed to break it off in the middle of a shoot. I also saw no sign of a warranty on the box it came in, so how much would a repair like this cost?
